You will visit various attractions such as the Caracalla Baths, Venice Square, Circo Massimo, the Capitoline Hills, or St. John Lateran. DAY 4 - ROME (B/-/-)

Today you will have a full day at leisure to explore Rome. The “Eternal City” stands as one of the finest and oldest cities in the world. The history of Rome spans over 2,500 years and it has been a centre of power, politics, culture, and development since its inception. This city is steeped in legend and mythology as there are various stories of how this majestic metropolis was built. Several Roman emperors and Casers have ruled mighty Rome. This is the city where the colossal Roman Empire grew from. We recommend you visit the world-famous Colosseum (with the skip the line pass) and the Sistine Chapel, famous for its extensive and detailed decorations including the Last Judgement fresco by Michelangelo and the ceiling artwork. Another emblematic site to see is the Trevi Fountain. The detail of the sculptures is magnificent, and the entire facade and fountain are a true work of art signed by Nicola Salvi in 1762.

Overnight in Rome

DAY 5 - ROME - FLORENCE (B/-/-)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and depart Rome to travel to Florence. This route is graced with beautiful landscapes. Upon arrival in Florence, you will head straight towards Piazzale Michelangelo. This square offers the best views of Florence and the Cathedral in the city. Situated on the South banks of the River Arno, the Piazzale Michelangelo sits high on a hill near the Boboli Gardens and the Palazzo Pitti. In the center of the square stands a wonderful Bronze statue of David, and at the edge of the square, there is a series of vendors and artists. From there you will embark on a panoramic tour with a local expert. You will walk through the historic center where you may admire the Duomo: a symbol of Florence city, the Ponte Vecchio, Basilica de San Lorenzo, and Giotto’s famous bell tower. Spend the afternoon at leisure to explore the city at your own pace. We recommend you visit the Uffizi Palace, a renowned art museum considered to be one of the most important museums in Italy. Inside you will find a vast collection of Renaissance art from famous artists such as Botticelli, Da Vinci, Titian, and Raphael. We also suggest you visit the Galleria dell’Accademia. This gallery features excellent masterpieces of Renaissance art including Michelangelo’s original David sculpture.

Overnight in Florence

DAY 6 - FLORENCE - PISA - CINQUE TERRE - GENOVA (B/-/-)

After breakfast, you will continue your journey to Pisa, where you will take a small train to the monumental Field of Miracles. Here, you will see the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. From there you will explore the Ligurian Coast, home to some of the prettiest coastlines in Europe. Cinque Terre has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, consisting of five beautiful villages which are almost isolated by road, living on fishing and tourism. Given the difficult access by road, you will travel by train, with a ticket included to Vernazza. Cinque Terre maintains its appearance of a citadel, with its outstanding church of Santa Margherita built-in 1318 overlooking the sea. Afterwards, you will have time for lunch (not included). Then, you will take the train to Levanto, where you will travel to Genova by coach. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to explore the Genoa Old Port.

Overnight in Genoa

Note: The train to Cinque Terre is a regular local railway service, not a tourist service. Sometimes the trains are full (it is not possible to book spots on these trains) and it may at times be necessary to travel standing and not seated.

DAY 7 - GENOVA - SANTA MARGARITA - PORTOFINO - MILAN (B/-/-)

After a delicious breakfast, you will travel to the nearby city of Santa Margherita Ligure. Continue your journey to Portofino, situated in the Italian Riviera, one of the most exclusive regions in Europe. You will enjoy a relaxing afternoon in this beautiful village. Head out for a stroll by the sea and enjoy lunch in the area. From there, you will continue your journey to Milan. This city offers the perfect mix of historic architecture, modern high-rise skyscrapers, and a traditional Italian lifestyle. Milan is also known for its abundance of high-end fashion retailers and the beautiful Duomo Cathedral (which we recommend you visit)!

Overnight in Milan

Note: Depending on the weather conditions, sometimes the boat to Portofino does not operate. In this case, you will access the city by urban microbus.

DAY 8 - MILAN - LAKES REGION - VERONA (B/-/-)

Today you will discover the most scenic areas in Europe — the region of the Italian Lakes. First, you will travel to Lake Orta in Orta De San Giulio, where you will discover a preserved medieval city. Then, you will take the train to reach the center of the medieval town, along with a boat ride to the small island of San Giulio. From there you will head to Lake Maggiore. Enjoy a stop in Stresa, where you may (optionally) visit the Borromean Islands — especially Isola Bella with its beautiful gardens and palace (closed in the winter). After lunch, you will travel towards Verona, the second-largest city in the region after Venice. This city offers a rich history and ancient buildings waiting to be explored, such as the Arena and Ponte Scaligero. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure to explore the city.

Overnight in Verona

DAY 9 - VERONA - VENICE (B/-/-)

This morning you may enjoy free time to explore the city of Romeo and Juliet before you leave for Venice, where you will arrive around 1:00 PM. Embark on a boat ride to the area of St Mark’s Square, accompanied by a local guide. You may enjoy a beautiful stroll around the City of Canals. There will also be a chance to admire the glasswork of Murano. Spend the afternoon at leisure to discover the most romantic city in the world. Accommodation will be provided in the Mestre district.

Overnight in Venice

DAY 10 - VENICE - PADUA - SAN MARINO - GUBBIO - PERUGIA (B/-/-)

After breakfast, you will leave for Padova, home to many pilgrims and the Saint’s Basilica. From there you will travel towards the Adriatic coast to see San Marino, a small independent country sitting on a strongly fortified mountain. After lunch, you may admire the beautiful mountain countryside as you cross the Apennines to Gubbio. This is a marvelously preserved town where the Palace of Consuls and the 12th-century cathedral stand out. Continue towards Perugia, situated in a hilltop region surrounded by the valleys and mountains of Umbria.

Overnight in Perugia

DAY 11 - PERUGIA - ASSISI - ROME (B/-/-)

You will begin your day by uncovering the beauty of Perugia, also known as the City of Chocolates. Explore the city with a local guide as you climb the ramps crossing the rocky outcrop. You will be surprised by its squares and stone streets. From here you may continue your travels to Assisi, where you will have time for lunch (not included) and to see the Basilica of St Francis. Prepare to travel back to Rome in the afternoon. Arrive in the historic city around 4:30 PM where you will be dropped off at your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure.
