Maracana Stadium Behind The Scenes - Day 20 Icon

Built for the 1950 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, the Estadio Jornalista Mario Filho, better known as the Maracana Stadium, provided the venue for that year’s memorable decider between the host nation and Uruguay. This was one of the most dramatic chapters in the history of the competition! Once the largest stadium in the world, packing in crowds of up to 200,000 people — among the highest attendances ever seen in the history of the game — the Maracana was completely renovated for the 2014 FIFA World Cup which reduced the capacity to 76,935 for Brazil 2014. It remains, nevertheless, the country’s biggest football ground. As Rio’s second most popular tourist attraction, the Maracana continues to attract football fans from all around the world. Visitors will get to go behind the scenes, passing by the Tribune Press, the locker room, the Tribune of Honour, the cabins, and the Museum; with a collection of relics of the stars who made the history of the temple in world football. DAY 19 - RIO DE JANEIRO (B/-/-)

Start your day uncovering the many faces of Rio de Janeiro — where colonial charm meets cosmopolitan flair. Drive through the city’s buzzing downtown, the financial hub where gleaming skyscrapers rise beside timeworn churches. Along Rio Branco Avenue, marvel at the historic Candelaria Church, a masterpiece of the 18th century, and take in the grand façades of Brazil’s major banks and institutions. Pass by the majestic Opera House, bustling Carioca Square, and the 17th-century Santo Antonio Church, all standing in contrast to the ultra-modern Petrobras headquarters and Rio’s futuristic Metropolitan Cathedral. Continue on to the striking 18th-century aqueduct, now a landmark gateway to Santa Teresa — a hillside neighborhood known for its bohemian vibe and colonial architecture. Next, journey along scenic Flamengo Park, soaking in ocean views and lush landscapes as you approach one of Rio’s most iconic highlights: Sugarloaf Mountain. Ascend by cable car (optional) to 1,200 feet and witness jaw-dropping, panoramic views of Rio — from Copacabana Beach to Guanabara Bay — a sight that will leave you speechless.

Overnight in Rio de Janeiro

TO BRING: Camera, sunglasses, hat, water, comfortable shoes, layered clothes appropriate for the weather.

**bathing suit & towel if you plan to take a dip in the waterfall**

DAY 20 - RIO DE JANEIRO - USA/CANADA (B/-/-)

Enjoy your day at leisure or book an optional tour. In the evening you will be transferred to the Rio International Airport for your flight back home.

Optional: Maracana Stadium Behind The Scenes: USD 80, min 4 pax

This tour will be approximately 3.5 hours long and a minimum of 4 passengers will be required. This tour is only available on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
