What are some of Turkey's most popular tourist attractions?

Pamukkale

Pamukkale, with its gleaming white mineral terraces, is one of the most important parts of escorted tours to Turkey. The name Pamukkale means 'cotton castle' in Turkish and refers to the white carbonate deposits left behind by mineral springs. The 17 hot springs in the area have a temperature of 35°C - 100°C. The water is rich in calcium carbonate, which is why it has left behind such beautiful formations.

It's a dazzling sight and must-see for Instagrammers from all over the world, but it is also considered one of four attractions in the region, along with the mineral terraces of Pamukkale, the Greek and Roman ruins of Hieropolis, and the Roman ruins of Laodecia.

The unusual white cliff faces with crystal blue pools and the enormous valley far below are visible from a boardwalk that provides stunning views of the fantastic translucent pools and striking white-and-blue basin. The best time to visit Pamukkale is early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun is not as strong and you can avoid crowds.

Ephesus

On the banks of River Kaystros, the ancient Ephesus was once a huge city and port. This Hellenic-Roman metropolis developed around the Temple of Artemis, one of the 7 Wonders of Antiquity, and became the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. As the third-largest ancient city in the world, Ephesus in Western Turkey was home to a population of over 250,000 people.

The first thing you'll notice is the magnificent Library of Celsus, constructed between 114 and 117 AD and one of the most beautiful buildings from antiquity. The library was built to house 12,000 scrolls and served as a mausoleum for the Roman Senator Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus, the Roman governor of Asia.

The Temple of Hadrian, another well-preserved building from antiquity, is located nearby. This temple was built in honor of Emperor Hadrian during his visit to Ephesus in 145 AD. From the library, you can stroll down Curetes Street, the main shopping street in the ancient city, to the Great Theater. With a seating capacity of 25,000, this is where St. Paul preached his famous sermon on Christianity. If you are interested in visiting religious sites on turkey group tours, this is a brilliant idea for a location!

It will pique your interest to learn that the entire ensemble of the Artemis Temple, House of Virgin Mary, and the ruins of Ephesus was deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, right in Ephesus. Ephesus is a must-see destination for visitors to Turkey today. Other than Ephesus, travelers on escorted tours to Turkey are often interested in seeing other historical locations near Ephesus such as St. John's Basilica and Virgin Mary's House.

Cappadocia

Cappadocia is a historical region in central Turkey known for its fairy chimneys, underground cities, and cave churches. This surreal landscape was created by the eruption of three volcanoes over millions of years. The result is unique geology that includes tufa (soft rock), pumice, lava, and pyroclastic deposits.

The landscape is studded with cone-shaped rock formations called fairy chimneys, some of which are up to 40 meters tall. The area was once home to early Christians who carved churches and monasteries into the soft rock. Today, many of these cave churches are still in use and open to visitors.

Cappadocia is also a great destination for hikers. It's unusual to find a location with so many walking paths, valleys, rock tunnels, and arches that connect the ancient settlements and attractions of Cappadocia. The scenery is bewildering, yet it's even more breathtaking because of the staggering elevations, lush valleys, and odd fairytale chimneys that dot the area.

If you're interested in going off the beaten path, Cappadocia is the perfect destination. You can explore underground cities, hike through gorges, and visit ancient cave churches. With its unusual landscape and incredible history, Cappadocia is one of Turkey's most popular tourist destinations.

It is possible to hike in Cappadocia without a guide, though you run the risk of getting lost on the region’s many unmarked trails. Because of this, it is highly recommended that you do not attempt a hike without an experienced guide.

Indus Travel provides Turkey tours from the USA that include Cappadocia-based vacation packages, which include transportation from hotels to attractions and back. The guides that accompany you are also familiar with the region's complicated topography and can easily navigate some of the area's most challenging parts.

Istanbul

Istanbul is a city that is known for world dominance and has been a center of attraction on most Turkey group tours. Home to more than 14 million people and surrounded by water, this ancient metropolis covers an impressive amount of land mass in both Europe and Asia. Its rich history spans centuries before it became the modern-day Istanbul we know today. It has been home to many civilizations including those from Roman times through the rule of the Ottoman empire - still bearing witness to some very interesting eras overall!

Among the many sights to see in modern-day Istanbul is the Bosphorus Strait. The Bosphorus Strait, which runs through the city along the European and Asian sides, is one of Istanbul's most distinctive features. The strait is used for shipping traffic and is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and swimming.

The Bosphorus Strait is visible from many different vantage points in the city, including the Hagia Sophia, Istanbul's Blue Mosque, and Dolmabahce Palace. These landmarks are must-see experiences when you visit Istanbul. Visitors can either participate in a public boat tour or hire a private yacht to see some of the city's most spectacular vistas.

Other architectural wonders such as the Ottoman waterfront mansions, the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the Grand Bazaar, the Topkapi Palace, and Byzantine palaces are among the other attractions.

How many days are enough for a tour to Turkey?

Turkey is jam-packed with activities, but we recommend limiting your escorted tours to Turkey to 6 to 17 days. Two weeks is often the sweet spot for most travelers. This gives you enough time to explore the major cities and attractions without feeling rushed. A two-week stay in Turkey is just enough to discover the pleasures of Istanbul while still having time to go on a day trip to one of the nearby cities such as Troy or Canakkale on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

Spend at least 48 hours in Istanbul – it's a great introduction to Turkey before venturing out to other parts of the country like Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Bodrum. We also recommend taking a day or two to explore Ephesus, one of the largest and most well-preserved archaeological sites in the world.

Turkey small group tours can either focus on one area to maximize your experience or involve moving quickly from city to town to get a more comprehensive view of the country.

When is the best time to visit Turkey?

Turkey is a large country with many different climates. The best time for Turkey small group tours depends on where you're going and what you want to do. If you're interested in spending time on the beach, the best time to visit Turkey is from June to September when the weather is warm and sunny. However, this is also the busiest time of year, so be prepared for large crowds at popular tourist destinations.

However, if you're interested in hiking and outdoor activities, the best time to visit Turkey is from April to June or from September to November when the weather is milder. Keep in mind that some trails may be inaccessible due to snowfall from December to March.

On a broader scale, the best months to visit are April and May, when the weather is pleasant, and September and October, when the weather is temperate. You can tour Turkey worry-free during these months as the weather is mild, allowing you to explore both the cities and outdoor ruins. This is shoulder season too, so fewer people crowd around the attractions.

What is the best way to explore Turkey?

There is no specific answer to this question, as the best way to explore Turkey depends on your interests and travel style. For example, if you're interested in Turkey's history and rich culture, we recommend spending time in Istanbul and visiting some of the nearby archaeological sites like Ephesus or Troy on Turkey small group tours. Alternatively, if you're interested in outdoor activities, we recommend visiting places like Cappadocia or Pamukkale.

The good news is that Indus Travel offers a variety of different Turkey tour packages so you can find the perfect one for you. We offer everything from city Turkey tours to outdoor adventures with tour groups and can customize trips through the aid of an expert tour director to fit your specific needs. Contact us today to start planning your dream trip to Turkey!

What language is spoken?

Turkish is the official language of Turkey, but English is also widely spoken, particularly in tourist areas. You'll have no trouble finding someone who can help you with directions or recommendations. However, learning a few key phrases in Turkish will come in handy and show locals that you're making an effort to learn their language.

What is the currency in Turkey?

The Turkish Lira (?TRY) is the currency of Turkey, and 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 ? TRY notes are available. The Turkish Lira has historically been known to change in value, and it is currently experiencing severe inflation, making it more affordable than usual for tourists. Determining precise rates in your local currency against live currency converters is critical.

Is it safe to visit Turkey?

Turkey is generally a safe country to visit, but like any country, it has its hazards. Petty crime, like pickpocketing and scams, is common in tourist areas. Be sure to keep your belongings close to you and be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Although it's natural to be cautious about traveling to new places, you should know that Turkey is no more dangerous than any other tourist destination. You might even find that the locals are very hospitable and will offer you tea or coffee whenever they can.

Nevertheless, we do recommend that you frequently take security measures. For example, only carry small amounts of cash on you, follow the directives of the tour guide or tour operators, and avoid going into dangerous neighborhoods at night while on Turkey group tours. Also, be sure to tell someone close to you where you'll be located. If you act responsibly and are considerate of the culture, we guarantee a perfect trip.

Glories of Türkiye
Glories of Türkiye 15 day tour This small group (in our case just 8 people) tour was excellent and provided a perfect introduction to this country. The first thing that stands out is how clean everywhere is. Not so much as a candy wrapper anywhere, city streets or country by-ways. The Turks are hospitable, polite and friendly people, eager to please everywhere you go. English is spoken in many places and commnication is never a problem. Our escort and guide, Fatih, was both knowledgeable and informative about the many sights; but also thoughtful and concerned for the well-being of his group members. Highly organized and experienced, he had everything under control. Our fellow travelers were all delightful company. Istanbul is a vibrant city with a history dating back thousands of years. Divided by the Bosphorous, it is both in Europe and in Asia. The Kadikoy district, on the Asian side, is not part of the tour but should be. If possible try to spend a couple of additional days there. The ancient sites are all interesting and cover thousands of years of history, including Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and many associated with biblical writings. This is also a good opportunity for non Muslims to learn about the Islamic faith. Dining was always a pleasure. Although the Turkish population is almost entirely of the Muslim faith, it is politically secular. As a result, alcoholic beverages are widely but not universally available. Tap water is generally avoided, but bottled water is available everywhere. Prices in stores and dining establishments were significantly cheaper than Europe or North America. There was no sense anywhere of a threat to personal safety. Indeed we saw no signs of homelessness or drug or alcohol abuse or criminality. Toilets were clean and fresh everywhere. In summary, Turkey was a wonderful vacation experience, and the Glories of Türkiye 15 day tour met and exceeded our expectations.

We went on the Classical Turkey tour with Indus on Apr 4 to 14, 2019. The trip was fantastic!! Indus was basically the middle man that connected us to Global Travel Services in Turkey. Indus provided us with the airplane tickets but in Turkey GTS took over everything. From landing in turkey to departing, everything was amazing! 5 star hotels, amazing tour guide, very comfortable tour bus, great itinerary. The only issue I had was that we did not stop in salt lake and the hot air balloon ride was 20 people but we were promised 12ppl max. Overall, Indus has great communication and the Classical Turkey trip was amazing! Definitely recommended it to my family and friends.
