DAY 1 - CAIRO (D)

Welcome to Cairo! Known as Al-Qāhirah (the Victorious), this vibrant metropolis is a captivating blend of ancient heritage and modern vitality. As one of Africa’s largest and most dynamic cities, Cairo stands as the political and cultural heart of the Arab world, a place where millennia of history unfold beneath the desert sun and the rhythm of daily life fills every bustling street. Cairo is not only Africa’s second largest city but the political and cultural centre of the Arab World. Cairo’s old quarters retain their ancient charm with many streets still known by descriptions given to them by medieval chroniclers. Modern Cairo’s architecture is distinguished by Ottoman and later European influences, especially in commercial architecture, particularly as the city’s population boomed during the 19th century. On arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met and transferred to the tour hotel. This evening enjoy a welcome group dinner at Abou El Sid Restaurant an authentic Egyptian restaurant using recipes found written in a book by Abou El Sid during Ottoman times as the inspiration.
Overnight in Cairo

DAY 2 - CAIRO (B/-/D)

Spend the morning on the Giza Plateau home of Egypt’s signature attractions: the Great Pyramids, proclaimed by the Greeks to be among the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. A single pyramid is built of 2,300,000 blocks, each weighing an average of two and one–half tons. In the face of such immensity, one cannot help but feel the wonder and awe that so many writers & artists have sought to convey over the centuries. Nearby, behold the Great Sphinx of Giza, carved from a single ridge of golden limestone, its human face and lion’s body eternally guarding the plateau which dates from the time of Chephren (2620BC). It is hewn from natural yellowish limestone and stands 65 feet high & 187 feet long.

This afternoon begin a culinary journey in the heart of downtown Cairo where the bustling alleys are alive with color, aroma, and tradition. Taste classic Egyptian street food such as koshari, taameya, and freshly baked baladi bread, while learning from your guide about the spices, herbs, and centuries-old culinary traditions that make Egyptian cuisine so unique. Sample traditional sweets like basbousa, konafa, and baklava. Pause at a charming, time-honored café to savor authentic Egyptian coffee or karkadeh (hibiscus tea).

Nestled in the heart of the historic Khan El Khalili bazaar in Cairo, the Naguib Mahfouz Café stands as a tribute to one of Egypt’s most celebrated literary figures. For café lovers and literature enthusiasts alike, this enchanting spot offers more than just a culinary experience; it provides a journey through time, culture, and the rich heritage of Egyptian storytelling. Step into the Naguib Mahfouz Café, and you are immediately transported to a different era. The décor is inspired by the golden age of Egypt, with intricate wooden carvings, traditional lanterns, and lush textiles that evoke a sense of nostalgia. The walls are adorned with photographs and quotes from Mahfouz’s works, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the world of one of Egypt’s greatest storytellers. The menu at Naguib Mahfouz Café is a delightful fusion of traditional Egyptian cuisine and contemporary flavours.

DAY 3 - CAIRO – LUXOR (B/L/D)

This morning we will be transferred to Cairo Domestic Airport for a flight to Luxor. Upon arrival in Luxor, you will be escorted to the cruise ship for embarkation. This will be your home for the next four nights. Enjoy lunch on board before an afternoon of touring Luxor. Luxor Temple was the center of the most important festival, the festival of Opet. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramses II, the temple served as a setting for the rituals of the festival, which was held to reconcile the human aspect of the ruler with his divine office. The procession of images of the current royal family began at Karnak and ended at the Luxor temple. Karnak Temple was erected in 1928 BC as a small shrine dedicated to Amun, the god of Thebes. The Temple of Karnak comprises three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples — all constructed over 1300 years. The three main temples of Mut, Monthu, and Amun are enclosed in enormous brick walls, with the temple of Amun at the center. Karnak is now the largest and oldest temple compound on earth.

DAY 4 - LUXOR – EDFU (B/L/D)

After breakfast cross the newly constructed Luxor Bridge to the west bank of the Nile, where the desert cliffs conceal the magnificent Valley of the Kings—the eternal resting place of Egypt’s greatest pharaohs. Step into history as you visit three royal tombs, each an extraordinary monument to art, belief, and immortality. Your expert Egyptologist will reveal the stories behind the hieroglyphs and vivid wall paintings that depict the pharaohs’ passage into the afterlife. Among these sacred chambers lie the tombs of Tutankhamun and Ramses V, their splendor still echoing through the ages. Continue to the Valley of the Queens, the serene necropolis of royal consorts and princesses from the 18th to 20th dynasties. Here, among nearly eighty tombs, lies the exquisite burial site of Queen Nefertari, beloved wife of Ramses II (currently closed to the public). Next, visit the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, the only woman ever to rule as Pharaoh. Nestled dramatically beneath towering cliffs, her temple at Deir El-Bahri—known in ancient times as Djeser-Djeseru, “the Sacred of the Sacred”—stands as an architectural masterpiece of balance and devotion. Return to your ship for lunch as your vessel sets sail toward Edfu via Esna, Watch the scenery unfold—verdant palm groves, ochre hills, and the gentle rhythm of life along the Nile.

Awaken to another serene morning on the Nile and enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board as your ship docks at Edfu, home to one of Egypt’s most magnificent and best-preserved temples. Dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus, the Temple of Edfu stands as a powerful symbol of divine protection and victory. Your Egyptologist guide will lead you through towering pylons, shadowed courtyards, and intricately carved reliefs that recount the mythic battle between Horus and Seth—gods whose eternal struggle of light and chaos shaped the beliefs of ancient Egypt. Return to your ship and relax as you sail toward Kom Ombo, a picturesque village where the river bends gracefully against golden banks. Enjoy lunch on board. In the late afternoon, disembark for a short walk to the Twin Temples of Kom Ombo, uniquely dedicated to two deities: Sobek, the crocodile god of strength and fertility, and Haroeris (Horus the Elder), the god of light and healing. As your guide shares their stories, imagine the sacred crocodiles that once basked in the sun on these very banks, honored and feared by ancient worshippers. Return to the ship and gather with fellow travelers for afternoon tea or a refreshing drink on deck as the scenery drifts by. This evening after dinner, the ship’s crew invites you to join in an Egyptian Gallabiyah Party, a joyful celebration of local music, dance, and laughter, where guests don traditional attire and experience the warmth of Egyptian hospitality.

Next, embark on a motorboat ride across the shimmering waters of the Nile to the legendary Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. The boat ride will give you a magnificent vista of the island, before landing at what would have been the ancient quay on the south side. The temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis and has many legends connected to it. The most well-known legend tells the story of how Isis found the heart of Osiris here after his murder by his brother Seth. Marvel at the intricate hieroglyphs and grand pylons and hear the captivating tale of Isis retrieving the heart of Osiris—a story that has enchanted travelers for millennia. After your cultural exploration, return to the ship for lunch. This afternoon sail on the Nile in a Felucca around Kitchener’s Island and visit the botanical island. Mystical Egypt Canada Special
Five of us, a group that has been friends since high school, they finally “got serious” and planned a reunion trip we had been talking about off and on for years, and selecting the Mystical Egypt tour wound up being the best decision. We all wanted to enjoy our time together without having the pressure of planning logistics, so it was really nice to have everything arranged for us. It was surreal to stand in front of the pyramids, but mostly I remember laughing with my friends on a boat on the Nile at sunset and trading old stories like no time had passed. The guides were informed without being overwhelming, and kept things moving along. Egypt had long felt like a someday destination, and sharing that moment with people who have known me for decades made it all the more special. We were already speaking about our next reunion, hopefully, with Indus again.

Picturesque Solo Egypt Tour
Just a week ago, I returned from the Picturesque Solo Egypt Tour with Indus Travels, and I’m still processing what a truly transformative journey it was. Traveling solo for the first time felt daunting at first, but from the moment I arrived, everything was so well organized that I immediately felt at ease. The on-ground staff were attentive and supportive, making sure every detail was taken care of, from smooth transfers to insightful guided tours. Exploring Egypt — from the timeless pyramids to sailing along the Nile — was an experience beyond words, and having the logistics handled so flawlessly allowed me to simply soak it all in. What made the trip so memorable was not just the incredible history and landscapes, but the confidence I gained as a solo traveler. I felt safe, cared for, and free to enjoy every moment. Indus Travels made this journey seamless from start to finish, answering my questions patiently and guiding me through the booking process. This trip wasn’t just about seeing Egypt — it was about discovering a new way to travel, and myself along the way. Unforgettable in every sense. Highly recommended for any solo traveler.

Picturesque Solo Egypt Tour
Ialmost didn’t book this trip, thinking I’d be “too old for a cruise tour” or that it would be rushed, crowded, or filled with too much sightseeing and not enough space to breathe. But let me tell you, this tour completely changed my mind. It wasn’t just doable it was deeply enjoyable. Everything was thoughtfully organized, accessible, and paced just right for someone like me in my early 60s who still loves to explore but isn’t looking to be on the go from dawn to dusk without a pause. We traveled as a group yes but it never felt like we were being shuffled from one place to the next. There was enough structure to feel secure and taken care of but also these little pockets of stillness that I didn’t expect... a quiet cup of coffee on the cruise deck while the Nile slowly moved past even a moment of meditation I did on my own by the river. Those little moments made all the difference. The temples were something else. Edfu and Philae in particular struck me, not just because of their size or detail, but their presence. There’s a certain quiet power in these places that you only feel by standing there in person. And then of course the Grand Pyramids. I thought I’d seen them already in books and documentaries, but being there… it gave me chills. There’s something about seeing them up close that stirs something ancient and humbling in you. I came home with more than just photos...I came back with a sense of connection to something much bigger than myself. This tour wasn’t just a vacation. It was an experience that touched me deeply, at just the right pace, and reminded me that it’s never too late to feel wonder again.

I’ve been around tours as a teacher, but this one surprised me. It felt well-organized yet no haste. The small group size made it personal, and our Egyptologist guides shared fascinating tidbits — not just dates, but stories. The boat was cozy and the food decent. We even slipped off the beaten path a few times. Worth calling out, some parts felt a bit ""shop-heavy,"" but that didn’t bother me much. Just be ready to bargain. In all, a solid mix of awe, history, and relaxation.

Mystical Egypt
The Mystical Egypt package with INDUS Travel was amazing. Before my boyfriend and I left for Egypt we were in communication with a representative Ravy who helped to update us on the current visa and COVID protocols. He also kindly updated our flight to reduce a 10 hour layover. From there the trip continued to impress! Our liaison in Cairo, Remon, met us with a warm greeting. We waited for other travelers to arrive, but Rey made it such a comfortable wait. On the way to the hotel Rey gave us a full rundown of how we could optimize our trip and familiarized us with certain customs of Egypt. With him, the hotel check in and check out was seamless. When we got to Luxor our guide Ramy really took the trip to another level! He was professional, knowledgeable, and passionate, which added such a personal touch to the experience. He promised an unforgettable experience, and he delivered. He was able to teach us the Egyptian culture with an interactive twist. Anytime we socialized with locals or needed help with a purchase Ramy was always ready to intervene and provide the best outcome. The ship’s crew, on the Nile River, were intuitive and extremely helpful. They clearly wanted their guess to feel special and welcomed. When we returned to Cario, Rey welcomed us back with a warm and sincere greeting. From there we met Omar who was young and ambitious. He helped us check in, go through our tour of the pyramids, old Cairo and the museum, then check out. Having him there was great because if there was any hiccup he was quick to resolve it without complaint. Our guide, also named Omar, filled us in on information during the Cario portion and further enlightened us on Egypt’s past. By the end of the trip the group we connected with felt like an extended family. The guides provided a lot of assistance and played a big part in us warming up to each other and forming a bond. If Egypt is on your bucket list INDUS Travel will make it worth while! I plan to use them any time the opportunity presents itself.

Indus Travel for our Egypt tour was perfect! Our Cairo director, Rey, was fantastic, as well our tour guide on our 4-night Nile cruise, Remy. Both served every aspect for our tour group in a professional manner; they were terrific, and also very fun! We took advantage of most every excursion and were absolutely thrilled with each of them (especially climbing inside the Great Pyramid). In Cairo, the El Tahir Cairo Hotel was topnotch, and the Concierge, Mokhtar, as delightful as he was professional and helpful.

We believe that we did see the best of Egypt. (One suggestion, visiting Sakarra and Memphis with Kalifa should have been available to everyone.). The Nile River boat (Amjar) was a delight, with an excellent staff, and lovely meals. Michael was our guide on the Nile River portion. He knows the history and did a wonderful job sharing it with all of us. Yes, be sure to do Abu Simbel - probably our favorite temple/tomb!

The travel arrangements were great and we were met at the airports with local transportation. Rames the co-ordinator in Cairo was great. He arranged for a taxi to our hotel when I wasn't feeling well and got us breakfasts to go on our early departure days. The local tours were very informative and not too long in the heat. Ramy was excellent in the Luxor to Aswan portion of our trip. Bravo Indus!

Mystical Egypt was an awesome tour. We were on the go right from the time our guide picked us up at the airport and we saw most of the highlights in our short time there. The Hot Air Balloon over Valley of the Kings and the Pyramids were most certainly the hi-lights of the trip. Our tour guides were fantastic and very informative.
