The journey takes you through cattle farmland and rolling hills, offering beautiful views of fertile valleys. Continue along the scenic and steep Spreetshoogte Pass, where you can enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views from the top one of the steepest passes in Namibia. This beautifully set reserve is home to a variety of deserted wildlife, including springbok, ostrich, aardwolf, bat-eared fox, and more.
Overnight in Namib Desert
DAY 12, MON: NAMIB DESERT (B/L/D)
Breakfast in the hotel is followed by an early departure with coffee and tea en route to Sossusvlei, a remarkable landscape of striking ecology and surreal desert scenery. The journey follows the Tsauchab dry riverbed as it winds through towering dunes before reaching the brilliant white salt and clay pan. After exceptional rainfall, which occurs roughly every 7–10 years, the Tsauchab River floods and fills the vlei, creating breathtaking scenery and attracting abundant birdlife. On arrival, the first stop is Dune 45, followed by continued exploration of Sossusvlei, where you may climb the dunes and experience the ever-changing beauty of the living desert. A picnic breakfast is served beneath the shade of camelthorn trees. The journey then continues on foot across the dunes to Deadvlei, a hauntingly beautiful pan where ancient trees stand preserved against a white clay floor. A visit is also made to Sesriem Canyon before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature drive to the “marble mountain” (drinks for own account) or relax on your veranda while taking in a spectacular desert sunset.
Overnight in Namib Desert
DAY 13, TUE: NAMIB DESERT – WINDHOEK – USA/CANADA (B/-/-)
After a hearty breakfast, depart for Windhoek, travelling via the scenic Remhoogte Pass, known for its diverse vegetation. Alternatively, the route may be taken via the Spreetshoogte Pass, depending on weather and road conditions. Arrival in Windhoek is expected at approximately 12h30. |

Make your own way over to your gateway airport for your overnight flight to Windhoek. Enjoy complimentary meals and extra on-flight services.
After breakfast, embark on an adventure-filled day in the company of a local Damara guide. Begin with a visit to Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where ancient Bushman communities engraved and painted over 2,500 rock artworks some 6,000 years ago. Continue to the nearby Living Museum of the Damara for fascinating insights into their traditional culture, before exploring the Petrified Forest — a remarkable geological wonder showcasing the transformation of wood into stone amidst some of the world’s oldest landscapes. Here, you’ll also encounter the unique Welwitschia mirabilis, the oldest living desert plant on Earth. The journey then continues to Namibia’s wildlife haven, Etosha National Park, where you check into your lodge bordering the park and unwind by the pool after a day of exploration.
Overnight in Etosha National Park (Southern region)
Following breakfast, the day is devoted entirely to exploring the abundant wildlife of Etosha National Park, which encircles a vast, parched salt desert known as the Etosha Pan. Home to four of the Big Five — elephant, lion, leopard, and rhino — the park was proclaimed Namibia’s first conservation area in 1907 by Governor von Lindequist. Despite its immense size, only the southern edge of the pan is accessible to visitors. Game viewing here centers around the numerous waterholes, some spring-fed and others borehole-supplied, offering ideal vantage points to observe over 114 different game species and more than 340 bird species. Among the park’s popular inhabitants are giraffes, blue wildebeests, plains and mountain zebras, hyenas, lions, leopards, and antelopes such as kudu, oryx, and eland. Endangered species like the black rhino, cheetah, and black-faced impala also roam these plains. A vast network of roads links over 30 waterholes, allowing for an extensive and diverse game-viewing experience across the park’s varied landscapes.
Overnight in Etosha National Park (Southern region)
In the morning after breakfast, today your guide takes you on a game drive through Etosha National Park. You may encounter animal species not seen the previous day and look forward to new surprises at the various waterholes visited along the way. The Etosha Pan dominates the park — a vast salt pan desert, nearly enclosed within the park and lined by numerous watering holes, stretching approximately 130 km in length and up to 50 km in width in certain areas. During Etosha’s notorious dry spells, the pan becomes a stark and dramatic landscape, lying parched and cracked under the intense African sun. It is widely regarded that game viewing is at its best during these dry periods, as animals tend to gather around limited water sources. However, even in the rainy season, the park remains a thriving wildlife haven. During this time, you may witness the remarkable renewal of life, as young foals, cubs, and chicks frolic alongside their parents, while fresh green shrubs and grasses transform the surroundings into a vibrant oasis.
As the day progresses, continue your journey through the park, gradually travelling from the southern region towards the eastern side, with ongoing game viewing opportunities along the way. This natural progression across the park is complemented by your overnight stay being arranged in the eastern region, allowing for a well-paced and seamless continuation of your journey the following day. In the afternoon, upon exiting the park on the eastern side, proceed to your lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure.
Overnight in Etosha National Park area (Eastern region)
After breakfast, you journey back through the heart of the country, passing vast stretches of bushland savannah en route to the capital, Windhoek. Time permitting, you may stop at the well-known woodcarvers’ market in Okahandja or browse the craft market along Windhoek’s main street for a few final souvenirs. The city itself is a vibrant blend of European architecture and African culture, offering an excellent selection of restaurants. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your chosen accommodation or transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
A great choice for a stay in Windhoek, Utopia Boutique Hotel is just 4.1 mi (6.5 km) from the airport. After having fun at the outdoor pool, you can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. Other highlights include a terrace and a garden. This property advises that enhanced cleaning and guest safety measures are currently in place. Disinfectant is used to clean the property; commonly-touched surfaces are cleaned with disinfectant between stays; bed sheets and towels are laundered at a temperature of at least 60°C/140°F. The camp operates entirely off-grid: it draws water from its own boreholes, is powered by solar energy (with a backup generator), and heats water through traditional wood-fired “donkey” geysers—bringing an authentic sense of wilderness to your stay. In the main area you’ll find a restaurant and bar, a lounge, WiFi in common areas, a swimming pool with pool bar, sun terrace, and secure parking. For activities, guests can embark on sundowner drives, walking trails, village visits, and search for desert-adapted elephants in the surrounding terrain—making this a comfortable yet adventurous base from which to explore this remote region of Namibia.
