Victoria Falls Tours: Journey to One of the World’s 7 Natural Wonders

Victoria Falls, one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world, is a sight to behold. Every year, thousands of tourists from all over the world visit this awe-inspiring site. There are many reasons to visit the thundering falls! The waterfalls are stunning, and their sheer size is simply amazing.

However, there is much more to the South Africa Victoria Falls than just the falls themselves. The area around the falls is home to a variety of different animals, including lions, elephants, and buffalo. There are also many different activities to do in the area, such as safari tours, white water rafting, and bungee jumping.

If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, then this tour is definitely for you. Join Indus Travels on a journey to the bottom of the world and see Victoria Falls up close!

Highlights of the Mighty Victoria Falls Tour

One of the best things about South Africa’s Victoria Falls is that there is so much to see and do. Here are just a few of the highlights you will encounter on our Victoria Falls tour packages:

Knife Edge Bridge on the Zambian side

For the thrill seekers out there, the Knife Edge Bridge is a must-visit. This bridge offers stunning views of the gorge below and is the perfect place to get your adrenaline pumping.

At 101 meters deep, the Eastern Cataract, which has the second-deepest drop of the series of waterfalls, is only accessible from Zambia. Interestingly, a walk across the Knife Edge Bridge provides you with the opportunity to get up incredibly close to the waterfalls, as you can stroll along the paved routes on the brink of Victoria Falls and even touch the spray.

If you're feeling adventurous and are up for a challenge, walk along this bridge during the high water season (February - July). The bridge is only 100 meters above the gorge, so don’t look down if you're afraid of heights!

Livingstone Island

For those who want to experience the falls up close and personal, Livingstone Island is a must-see. Located in the middle of the Zambezi River, this small island offers breathtaking views of the falls. Livingstone Island, which is named after 19th-century European explorer David Livingstone, begins with a thrilling boat journey through the Zambezi channels, followed by a guided tour of the island.

The Livingstone Island tour is only available during certain times of the year when water levels are low enough to allow access. This usually occurs from late June to early March. The island is shut down when the water level of the Zambezi is too high. This unique experience is available on the Indus Travel Victoria Falls tour package and is recommended for history buffs and adventure enthusiasts.

The Devil's Pool

Located on the very edge of Victoria Falls, the Devil's Pool is only accessible during certain times of the year when the water level is low enough. From mid-August to mid-January, you can take a dip in the pool and look down into the raging waters below. Just be sure to follow the safety rules and listen to the guides!

The Devil's Pool is a deep, naturally occurring pool dating back thousands of years. What is unique about it is that there’s a rock ledge on the lip of the falls. The water at this point is only a few centimeters deep, allowing you to jump into the deep pool without getting swept over by rushing water.

Safari Drive

No trip to South Africa’s Victoria Falls is complete without a safari drive! The Zambezi National Park, located just outside of Victoria Falls, is home to a variety of different animals, including lions, elephants, and buffalo. On a safari drive, you'll have the opportunity to see these animals roam in their natural habitat.

The Zambezi National Park’s location near the waterfall and Victoria Falls town is what makes it so special. You won't have to spend a lot of time traveling, which means you can spend more time enjoying the animals and the scenery, as well as other activities such as horseback safaris and a sunset cruise. At the end of the day, you can retire to a restful night at an exotic hotel, and get ready for the next day's activities.

Indus Travels has a team of qualified and professional travel consultants who plan the best itinerary for our Victoria Falls tour package. Our tour operators at Indus Travels have years of expertise, so you will be in excellent hands.

How big is Victoria Falls?

The world's biggest curtain of cascading water is Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, which measures 1,708 meters wide and 108 meters thick. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it is comparable to Niagara Falls in height! Victoria Falls is made up of five distinct waterfalls, one in Zambia (the Eastern Cataract) and four in Zimbabwe (The Devil's Cataract, Main Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Horseshoe Falls), although this is rarely mentioned.

The Devil's Cataract is the smallest of all the Victoria Falls at just 35 meters high. The Main Falls is the largest, measuring 93 meters (305 feet) high. The Rainbow Falls is 108 meters high, the Horseshoe Falls are 95 meters high, and last but not least, the Eastern Cataract is 101 meters high.

Can you visit Victoria Falls from South Africa?

Absolutely! Several daily flights from Johannesburg Airport arrive at Victoria Falls Airport and Livingstone Airport. You can also fly directly to Livingstone on the Zambian side of the falls from Kruger Mpumulanga International Airport. This means that you can easily combine Victoria Falls with an itinerary that includes Cape Town and the Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Livingstone, Zambia (the town on the Zambian side of the falls) is a 2-hour, 54-minute flight from Cape Town, while Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe (the town on the Zimbabwean side of the falls) is a 1-hour, 35-minute flight from Johannesburg. So whether you're looking for a quick getaway or a longer trip, the Zimbabwe Victoria falls tour is the perfect destination to head to from South Africa for any adventurous tourist.

Discover South Africa and Victoria Falls
Our visit to South Africa arranged through Indus Travel was wonderful and more than we had imagined. Indus Travel agents incorporated our requests for places to visit etc. with two of their own tours. They arranged for very polite, knowledgeable driver/tour guides for all our outings, for drivers meeting us at the airports and taking us to and from our hotels, for choosing very nice hotels and for convenient internal flights. We always felt safe without feeling overly chaperoned. Thank you Indus Travel, we will use you again and recommend you to our friends.
