Shared Hot Air Balloon Safari - Day 6 Icon
EARLY MORNING
This is the ultimate way to view wildlife in Africa. You will be woken before dawn and then driven in the shared vehicle of the balloon company to the balloon staging area, often a remote location. You are provided a safety briefing by the pilot as the crew inflates the envelope. Taking off as the sun rises, you will drift quietly above plains, rivers and forests while gazing at spectacular scenery and with luck, take some incredible photographs. The flight is approximately one hour and gives a ‘birds-eye’ experience to game-watching which many find to be the climax of their safari. On landing in the middle of nowhere there will be a shared full bush-style breakfast set up served with Champagne, with a table decked in silver cutlery, fresh Kenyan coffee, tea and fruits. It is a truly magical experience.
Special hints:
CLOTHING
Flat comfortable shoes should be worn. A jacket, sweater or fleece which can be easily removed during the flight as the sun warms up the air is ideal. Sun hats & sun glasses are also recommended.
CAMERAS
If you have a choice of lenses carry both the wide angle & telephoto. You should be familiar with your cameras setting for low light as take-off is at sunrise. Carry enough batteries and storage & a camera bag to put in your equipment when landing. Video cameras are great & binoculars invaluable for game watching. Hot Air Balloons are very photogenic.

The bay boasts numerous uninhabited islands and sandbanks and is frequented by humpback and bottlenose dolphins. Board your dhow and set off to explore the bay and search for dolphins (you will have an 85% chance of seeing them)! This tour will also include snorkeling and lunch on Small Island or a sandbank. After lunch, you will get the opportunity to join an experienced crew member and sail a “ngalawa” or outrigger canoe, made by hand from a single mango tree.

I have always been a Nature Documentaries fan and going on safari in Tanzania was one of my biggest wishes for years. It is one thing reading about it but to experience any of that in person, just amazing! No nature documentary can convey the experience of elephants moving silently across the landscape at dawn or lions resting comfortably beneath the trees. I find this trip was so well balanced, It was a rugged, uplifting safari portion and Zanzibar afterwards allowed us to slow down in the perfect way. Ending our last few days on white-sand beaches with warm ocean breezes was surreal after early morning game drives. I also loved learning about much more than just the wildlife in Tanzania. The lodges were lovely and cozy, but not too stuffy, which helped to keep the experience in a more natural and inviting atmosphere. But for us this was not only a holiday, it felt like another world for 14 days

Best of Tanzania
I chose Indus Travels’ “Best of Tanzania” as a 55-year-old mom traveling with my husband and our two adult kids, and it turned out to be the family trip I didn’t know we’d been waiting for. The route—Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater—felt like a carefully designed reveal: first the elephants and baobabs, then endless Serengeti plains with big cats and wildebeest, and finally the “animal amphitheater” of the crater where it seemed like every few minutes someone in the jeep was pointing and saying, “Look at that!” What impressed me most was how seamlessly Indus handled the logistics for all four of us so we could just be present together—comfortably located lodges and tented camps, a patient and knowledgeable guide who answered a million questions from our kids, well-timed game drives, and smooth transitions between parks. The days were full but not exhausting; we’d be up early for sunrise drives, back for hearty meals and a bit of downtime, then out again for golden-hour sightings before gathering around the fire in the evenings to compare photos and share favorite moments. As a parent, what moved me most was watching our kids put their phones down, get genuinely excited about wildlife, and sit quietly just taking it all in—this wasn’t just a vacation, it was shared wonder, and Indus Travels made it feel safe, well-organized, and special from start to finish.
