Everest Mountain Flight - Day 4 ![]() Today you will be picked up early in the morning for your flight over Mount Everest. Pickup will be from the hotel around 5:45 AM for a flight departing at 6:30 or 7:00 AM for extraordinary views of Mount Everest. [This flight only operates when the weather is nice, and viewing will be satisfactory]. The Himalayan Range will fascinate every visitor to Nepal. One of the main attractions for travelers is the Mountain Flight. For those who are restricted by time or other constraints, mountain flights offer an incredible alternative to climbing and will give you incredible memories of the highest peaks on earth. The first mountain you will see is Langtang at 7234 meters. The Valley of Langtang, which is not visible from the plane, is the most beautiful in the Himalayan region. From there you will see Gosainthan (8013m). This mountain is situated on the Nepal – Tibetan border. The Tibetan name for this mountain is Shisapangma. Next, get ready to see Dorje Lakpa (6975m): this mountain has a Tibetan name, which means “the mountains of many sacred Thunderbolts”. It is considered a holy site for Buddhists. From there you will discover Gauri–Sanker (7134m). This single mountain has two peaks and two names because the Hindus believe the mountain looks like the Gods Shiva and Gouri. This holy mountain was restricted to climbers until 1977. It was only in 1979 that an American/Nepalese group reached the summit. Next, you will see Lhotse: (8516m): this mountain lies to the south of Everest. The name given by the Sherpas is Lhotse, which means “South Peak”. The first ascent of this mountain took place in 1956 by the Swiss. Finally, get ready to see the magnificent Mount Everest (8848m). This extraordinary mountain was discovered in 1852 and is the highest mountain in the world. It is named after Sir George Everest — an English surveyor. Sagarmatha “Top of the Universe” is the name given by the Nepalese which means, “Mother of the World” and Chomolungma in Tibetan. Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, his Sherpa, were the first to climb Everest on May 25th, 1953, as a coronation gift to Queen Elizabeth II. After the flight, you will return to the hotel. |

Welcome to Nepal! The capital city of Kathmandu is a major travel and tourism hub and will be your departure point for trekking to the Himalayas. This includes the magnificent Mount Everest and Annapurna! Besides the city’s proximity to these world-class hiking trails, Kathmandu also offers many of its own charms. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight in Kathmandu
Enjoy a tour of Nepal’s capital city of Kathmandu. Visit the Durbar Square, one of the three royal palace squares in the Kathmandu Valley. It is the site of the Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex, which served as the royal Nepalese residence until the 19th century. The magnificent palace complex was initially constructed in the 16th century, with subsequent additions made during the Shah (Gurkha) dynasty in the 18th century and by the Rana rulers in the 19th century. This palace houses the King Tribhuwan Memorial Museum and the Mendra Museum. At the southern end of Durbar Square is one of the most curious attractions of Nepal, the Kumari Chowk. This gilded cage features the Raj Kumari, a young girl chosen through an ancient and mystical selection process to become the human incarnation of the Hindu mother goddess, Durba. From there you may visit the Swayambhunath, the golden spire of the 5th-century overlooking the Kathmandu Valley. This World Heritage Site is one of the most distinguishable symbols of Nepal and one of the holiest Buddhist sites in the city. Legend has it that the history of the Valley traces back to the draining of an ancient lake by an Enlightened Being. Swarms of pilgrims and red-clad monks circle the complex, spinning the prayer wheels, while the scores of monkeys that give the temple its nickname, Monkey Temple, frolic about in groups. Interestingly, the complex is scattered with shrines and statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities, where pilgrims from both faiths define the country’s religious harmony. This afternoon you will reach the Pashupatinath Temple, the holiest Hindu Temple in Nepal. This complex is considered as holy as the Ganges and is supposed to be the second residence of Lord Shiva after Mt Kailash. Cremations are performed here day and night.
Overnight in Kathmandu
After breakfast, you will travel south to Chitwan National Park (CNP), a World Heritage Site in Terai located in the subtropical region of Nepal. In this park 68 species of mammals, 544 species of birds, and 126 species of fish have been recorded. This fascinating site is especially renowned for its protection of the One-Horned Rhinoceros, the Royal Bengal Tiger, and the Gharial Crocodile.

You may discover the Asian One-Horned Rhinoceros, Leopard, and Sloth Bear, deer, monkeys, wild boar, and hundreds of species of birds. You may also be able to paddle in a dugout canoe to the point where three rivers meet; the perfect place to see the park’s diverse birdlife and maybe even some crocodiles. Later today you may have the chance to see a Stick Dance, a centuries-old dance performed by members of the Tharu tribe.
