The palace served as the official residence of the kings of Thailand from the 18th to the mid-20th century. The most famous building on the palace grounds is Wat Phra Kaew (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha), regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple (wat) in Thailand. The construction of the temple began when King Rama I moved the capital from Thonburi to Bangkok in 1785. Unlike other Thai temples, it does not contain living quarters for monks; rather, it only features richly decorated holy buildings, statues, and pagodas. The main temple building is the central ubosoth, which houses the Emerald Buddha. Though green in color, the Buddha is carved from a single piece of jade, and while it is only 17 inches tall, it is the most revered object in Thailand. Also, within the grounds lie several palaces which are used for various occasions: The Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, Throne Hall, Coronation Hall, and the Royal Guest House. While most halls and palaces may be seen from outside only, but the exteriors are breathtaking enough to please the eyes of travelers.

After a hearty breakfast, prepare for an immersive half-day city tour showcasing three of Bangkok’s most remarkable and historically significant Buddhist temples. Your journey begins at Wat Traimit, home to the world-renowned Golden Buddha, a breathtaking statue crafted from 5 ½ tons of solid gold. Next, continue to Wat Pho, Bangkok’s oldest and largest temple complex, renowned for housing the colossal Reclining Buddha. Stretching an impressive 46 meters in length and covered in gold leaf, this awe-inspiring statue symbolizes the Buddha’s passage into Nirvana. Wat Pho is also famous for its intricately adorned Chedis of the Kings, a collection of towering, colorfully tiled stupas dedicated to past monarchs, as well as its reputation as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage.Conclude your temple exploration at Wat Benjamaborpitr, also known as the Marble Temple, a stunning example of Thai craftsmanship. Constructed from pristine white Carrara marble imported from Italy, its elegant multi-tiered roofs and intricately carved gables reflect the harmonious fusion of Thai and European architectural influences. Inside, the main hall houses a magnificent bronze Buddha statue, while the surrounding courtyard features a striking collection of Buddha images from various regions of Thailand. After your temple tour, enjoy a leisurely afternoon at your own pace—whether by indulging in Bangkok’s vibrant street food scene, exploring its lively markets, or relaxing at a riverside café. Amazing Thailand Seattle Special
As a 48-year-old traveler from New York, this Thailand trip was fun and comfortable. I enjoyed visiting temples (especially Wat Pho), and if you ease in, the city’s wonderful food walks and night markets feel safe, well-organized. Phuket was the ideal antidote, with tranquil beaches, soft sea breezes and leisurely days that allowed me to relax and check out, at last. It all shot off like clockwork, from the flights to the transfers which made it a great hassle-free trip more suited for my style of travel. Feeling refreshed, culturally filled and thankful for an trip that has the right amount of adventure but also quality time to relax.

INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC FLIGHTS

Why is it important that I give my name as it appears on my passport when booking a tour?

Due to increased travel security and policies around the world, it is now a requirement that your airline ticket matches your first and last name exactly as it reads on your passport. Please note that any changes to the details of your air booking, could be subject to a change fee, penalties or cancellation.

Can I reserve a seat assignment?

For our packages that include flights, we do not usually assign seats. In most cases, you can request specific seats, but this may incur a small fee payable to the airline. For more information, contact our sales and reservations staff.

Once confirmed, are airlines seats always guaranteed?

In most cases, seat assignments are firm. However, airlines may sometimes reassign seats for operational reasons. This often happens at the last moment and is controlled by airline staff, with Indus Travel not being notified. Passengers are encouraged to reconfirm their seat assignments and any other special requests directly with their airline prior to departure.

Should I check-in online?

It always recommended and more convenient to check in online. It will shorten your waiting time at the airport, secure your seat assignments and other reservations.

Can I request a special meal on the flight?

Requests may be made for special meals. These requests will be sent on your behalf to the airline so long as Indus receives these request prior to your documents being issued. The availability of special meals will be based upon the specific airlines and will be at their discretion.

Can I use my frequent flier miles?

Accrued frequent flier miles cannot be used toward the purchase of Indus Travels’ airfare or used for class upgrades. However, airfare purchased through Indus Travels may qualify to earn you additional miles.
