After breakfast at the hotel, you will go on a half-day tour of the beautiful city of Lisbon. You will discover the famous 7 hills of the city, São Roque, São Jorge, São Vicente, Santo André, Santa Catarina, Chagas and Sant'Ana. Here you will learn about the Lisbon tiles and visit some of the most emblematic points of Lisbon, including many churches and famous landmarks of high heritage value. Next, you will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure to simply relax or explore the city. We suggest you visit the Piriquita Coffee Shop and taste the delicious pastries of “Travesseiros” and “Queijadas” (not included). At night, you will experience dinner with the melancholic vibes of a stirring live Fado show. The Fado is not just a traditional music genre that can be traced to the 1920s, it is also an intangible Heritage of Humanity. Fado, which means fate in Portuguese is connected to the feeling of saudade, a state of nostalgia and yearning for something or someone. Most lyrics are about broken hearts and lost sailors in the sea.
Dinner and Overnight in Lisbon
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the river station to begin a scenic boat trip on the Tagus River. As you sail westward, leaving behind Lisbon’s iconic Commerce Square and the impressive Rua Augusta Arch. Passing under the 25 de Abril Bridge at sunset, watch the sky light up with beautiful orange and pink hues. Along the way, admire landmarks like the Monument to the Discoveries and the UNESCO-listed Belém Tower. Enjoy a refreshing drink as you take in the stunning views beside the sanctuary of Christ the King.
After a delicious breakfast at your hotel and check out, you will be transferred to the airport to make your way to Ponta Delgada, located in the Azores Archipelago. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel for check-in at your hotel. In the afternoon you will go on a walking tour of the narrow and historic streets of Ponta Delgada. The beautiful cosmopolitan city was once a small fishing village but soon became the main port of San Miguel Island and today it bustles with a lively cultural life. Your tour will take you to the São Sebastião Church, because of its centric location it is normally referred to as the “Matriz”. The Church is a gothic structure that shows Manueline-style traces with lavishly decorated cedar and other magnificent woods, you will enjoy viewing interesting 17th and 18th-century paintings, as well as a valuable collection of gold-embroidered liturgical vestments from the 14th century. You will visit the Portas da Cidade, an 18th-century city gate with three arches built in the typical style of the region, in the middle you can admire the royal and city’s coat of arms. Next, you will make your way to the São Brás For, a military fort located by the sea, be amazed by the cannons, statues and ship ankers that were once a key element for defending the city.
Overnight in Ponta Delgada
After breakfast, meet with your guide and start a full-day tour of the island admiring the magnificent belvederes. You will then leave Ponta Delgada through the southern coast and your first stop will be in Ribeira Quente, a tranquil fishing village, here you will visit Fogo Beach, which is formed by a stretch of sand with warm seawater, an unusual event that attracts locals and visitors alike. After you will arrive in Povoação, a tranquil village with a variety of natural beauty, where you can see active volcanic phenomena. You will make a couple of stops in Miradouro do Sossego, a popular observation deck that offers you dramatic views of the ocean and Ponta da Madrugada, one of the best places to admire the north coast of the island before arriving at Nordeste. Nordeste is a spectacular town that means “northeast”, it is dotted with spectacular cliffs, green field waterfalls and viewpoints. You will take a walk in the extraordinary center, admiring the typical Portuguese architecture with whitewashed buildings and black corners. Finally, you will make your way back to Ponta Delgada, this way taking the northern coast route.
Overnight in Ponta Delgada
After breakfast, you will start your tour heading to the north coast. Your journey will take you to the Belvedere of Santa Iria, where you will have the opportunity to admire spectacular views of the Atlantic coastline and abundant flora. Next, you will make a stop at the tea factory of Gorreana, the oldest and only still functioning tea plantation in Europe, here you will have the opportunity to taste the tea that has been produced there since 1883. Later, you will make a stop at Pico de Ferro, a great point to view the crater lake and town of Furnas, you will then make a stop in Furnas Lake, a peaceful place where volcanic fumaroles, that locals use as natural stoves to cook the famous cozido, a traditional Portuguese boiled meal. The next stop is the Village of Furnas, where you can see medieval-type local residencies and pay a visit to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Vitorias, a neo-gothic-style cathedral with various chapels. You will be served a delicious lunch here before paying a visit to Terra Nostra Park and the hot springs, an area in the middle of the village with diverse forms of volcanic activity, where water and mud geysers spout and boil. Finally, you will return to Ponta Delgada by the southern coast, passing by Vila Franca do Camp, the island’s first governmental center.

Today you will discover the western part of the island, known for its tales and beauty. Your first stop will be in Pico do Carvão, a viewpoint with a magnificent panorama of the North and South coasts of the island. Your next stop will be the Vista do Rei, which translates to “the View of the King”, here you will have breathtaking views of Sete Cidades and the twin multi-colored lakes, both located inside a massive volcanic crater. While descending to the inside of the crater you will make a stop at Santiago viewpoint to observe Santiago Lake and visit the scenic Sete Cidades Village. Sete Cidades is one of the few places that still preserves the traditional Micaelan architecture, the houses have one roof and are made of ashlar stones. Later you will pay a visit to the pineapple plantations, where you will have the opportunity to observe how this tropical fruit grows in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, its sweetness and lower acidity than their counterparts around the world, make an excellent liquor. Next, you will return to your hotel at Ponta Delgada, where you will have the rest of the day at your leisure.

Explore the fascinating underground world of the Gruta do Carvão, the longest lava tunnel on São Miguel Island. Walk through ancient volcanic formations, including lava stalactites and unique geological textures, as you learn about the island's volcanic origins. Optional: Evening Lisbon Food tour: USD 60, min 2 paxOn this 02-hour walk of Portuguese food tour, you will visit different places in the city center and try three petiscos, which are small traditional snacks. You will taste dishes like bacalhau à Brás (a fish dish), some meat like chorizo and there are also vegetarian options. You will also drink local wine and ginjinha, a sweet cherry drink. While tasting, you will learn about Portuguese food and its history. The tour finishes in the city center, where you can try more food on your own.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Lisbon International Airport to prepare for your flight back home.

How do I create an Indus Account?
Go to our website and click on the register button found on the upper right hand side to create your Indus Travel account and start booking tours!
If I don't remember my password, how do I log in?
Click the Forgot Password? link in the login form and it will lead you to a form to change your password. Simply enter your registered email address and you will be emailed a link to reset your password.
How do I view my invoice?
You will not be able to access your invoice immediately upon booking. You will be notified by email when it is available for you, normally within 48 business hours of booking. You can find your invoice and all other details of the tours you booked by logging on to your account and going to the Tour Booking History page.
How do I make payment online?
Simply login to your Indus Travel account, go to your tour of choice and click on Book Now. You will then confirm the details and your preferences about the tour and finally pay through our secure online payment platform.
What forms of payment does Indus Travel accept?
We accept US & CA Dollar check, bank check, money order, direct deposits, wire transfer, Visa, and Master credit cards. Third-party credit cards are not acceptable. Payments made by wire transfer must include an additional $30 wire transfer fee. There is a $50 fee for returned checks.

When is my final payment due?
Your exact final payment date is indicated on your invoice which may be viewed by signing into your account. In general, final payment is due 75 days prior to departure with some exceptions where payment is due earlier.

Can I get paper documents?
Paper documents may be sent upon passenger request. There is a shipping and handling fee of $30 for each set of paper documents: These paper documents will be delivered between 14-21 business days prior to the beginning of your tour. In some instances, a paper voucher/ticket is required by our vendor. In these instances, the costs for shipping and handling will be shouldered by Indus Travels.
How do I access and print my documents?

Do I receive anything else with my e-documents?
Indus e-document package includes all local contact details, daily itinerary, airline e-ticket information, service vouchers, and travel tips which should be everything you require to go on your trip.
How do I know where to find my airline ticket?
With a few exceptions, international airline tickets are issued electronically. The airline confirmation number and ticket numbers stated in your documents represent your airline "ticket(s)." Some domestic Arline tickets which can only be issued at destination will be given to you upon your arrival in the local destination.
If I need one, who is responsible to obtain my visa?
You are responsible for obtaining the proper travel documents for the destinations on your itinerary, including having a passport that is valid for at least 6 months before the date of departure and a visa if required. Please check the Visa section in the Know Before You Go document for the countries you will be visiting.
Please note: Passengers who are not U.S. or Canadian citizens must check with the respective consulate or a visa agency to determine what personal identification is required. Passengers who enter, leave and then re-enter the same country on their itinerary should check if they require a double-entry visa.

What are optional sightseeing tours?
Optional tours are offered to travelers interested in additional experiences, sightseeing, meals or activities to supplement the included components of our tours. You may choose to participate in some, all or none of the optional tours which are priced individually. When can I add optional tours?
Optional tours are available for purchase any time up to 45 days before departure.
Can I purchase optional tours locally?
Yes. When traveling on an escorted tour, optional tours may be purchased locally from the Tour Manager. However, Indus cannot guarantee the rate and availability of these services when purchased locally. Please note that tours purchased locally are subject to current exchange rates and may cost up to 10% more.
Can I add optional tours for only select individuals on my reservation?

When can I purchase Travel Insurance?
American Residents can purchase Trawick Insurance with us at the time of booking or anytime prior to departure. After booking, Canadian Residents will receive an email with a referral to TuGo Insurance which can be purchased anytime prior to departure.
When is Travel Insurance active?
Travel Protection coverages will take effect on the later of 1) the date the plan payment has been received by the Policyholder; 2) the date and time you start your Covered Trip; or 3) 12:01 A.M. Standard Time on the Scheduled Departure Date of your Covered Trip.
I need to cancel my trip and have not purchased insurance, what do I do?
Penalties for cancellation will depend on the tour you have purchased and how close to departure you are at the time of cancellation. For more information, visit our terms and conditions.
Why is it important that I give my name as it appears on my passport when booking a tour?
Due to increased travel security and policies around the world, it is now a requirement that your airline ticket matches your first and last name exactly as it reads on your passport. Please note that any changes to the details of your air booking, could be subject to a change fee, penalties or cancellation.
Can I reserve a seat assignment?
For our packages that include flights, we do not usually assign seats. In most cases, you can request specific seats, but this may incur a small fee payable to the airline. For more information, contact our sales and reservations staff.
Once confirmed, are airlines seats always guaranteed?
In most cases, seat assignments are firm. However, airlines may sometimes reassign seats for operational reasons. This often happens at the last moment and is controlled by airline staff, with Indus Travel not being notified. Passengers are encouraged to reconfirm their seat assignments and any other special requests directly with their airline prior to departure.
Should I check-in online?
It always recommended and more convenient to check in online. It will shorten your waiting time at the airport, secure your seat assignments and other reservations.
Can I request a special meal on the flight?
Requests may be made for special meals. These requests will be sent on your behalf to the airline so long as Indus receives these request prior to your documents being issued. The availability of special meals will be based upon the specific airlines and will be at their discretion.
Can I use my frequent flier miles?
Accrued frequent flier miles cannot be used toward the purchase of Indus Travels’ airfare or used for class upgrades. However, airfare purchased through Indus Travels may qualify to earn you additional miles.
What is required when I check-in?
Ticketed passengers must show correct identification at check-in. Children must have a parent present at check-in and all tickets must be in each passenger's name.
What is required with International travel?
An international trip may require valid travel documents such as passport, visa, re-entry permit, health certificate, inoculation record, a ticket for the return journey or continuance of your trip, or ANY combination thereof. Passengers are responsible for the proper documentation. Concerns about the required travel documents may be resolved by contacting the appropriate consulate or embassy.
