Later, you will return to your hotel in Cusco.

Optional: Half day Visit to Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman (on private basis): USD 95, min 2 pax

Escape the crowds to visit Sacsayhuaman, an impressive citadel full of colossal fortresses, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes in communion with nature. You will then continue to the Inca shrine of Qenqo, with its awesome altar for sacrifices embedded in the side of the rock. You will finally reach the Puca Pucara Watchtower and Tambomachay — a monument of architectural excellence. This magnificent structure is one of the pillars of the Andean view of the world. Later, you will return to your hotel in Cusco.

Optional: Full Day Chacan Rainbow Temple And Cusilluchayoc Hike: USD 180, min 2 pax

This hike offers a breathtaking view of Cusco city and its countryside along with high Andean landscapes. You will be picked up from the hotel and drive for 15 minutes through the paved road up near Sacsayhuaman, where you may admire the gorgeous scenery of Cusco City (entrance fee will not be included). En route, you will see the peasants’ houses, fields with various types of crops (such as potatoes, corn, and barley), and see llamas traveling to Cusco from the Andean villages. These llamas will be accompanied by their owners, all of them perfectly dressed for photos with tourists in Cusco City. Upon arrival, you will leave the bus and start your hike to the Temple of the Rainbow. There, you will see the magnificent rainbow, made by a small waterfall under the sunlight. After spending some time admiring the breathtaking views you will cross a cave, following the stream, and then go back to hiking to Cusilluchayoc Temple for about two hours where you will have an hour for lunch. After lunch, you will explore this Inca temple and caves. Then you will cross the last agriculture field and continue your hike down to Cusco and visit the old part of the city such as the San Cristobal and San Blas neighborhoods.

Optional: Full Day Rafting Vilcanota, The Urubamba River : USD 270, min 2 pax

At 8:30 AM the guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive south towards Piñipampa town. There, you will pump the raft and receive your gear and safety talk. After training, you will board your rafts and begin your descent by the Vilcanota River. Cross a narrow canyon with some class 2-3 rapids. The scenery will be magnificent, and you will get the opportunity to see villagers working on their crops, among fishermen and Andean wild birds.

Optional: Half Day Stand up Paddler at Piuray Lake : USD 270, min 2 pax

The tour will start early in the morning and take you to the Sacred Valley. After about an hour drive you will arrive in Chincheros, home to Piuray Lake. This beautiful lake is home to breathtaking scenery, perfectly flat water, and plenty of birds. Your base is home to a local family that lives at the shore of the lake. They will greet you with a smile and share with you a little about their lifestyle and culture. Start with a safety briefing and paddle technique on land. Once you are in the water the idea will be to first get acquainted with the board, paddling techniques, and making turns. Upon your return, the family at Piuray will greet you with a hot infusion to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.

Overnight in Puno

DAY 7 - PUNO (B/-/-)

Embark on a morning trip to the “People of The Lake”: the Uros. There are approximately 40 scattered islands built with totora reeds (an aquatic plant), comprising a significant archipelago inhabited by 10 to 20 families. At 3,810 MASL, you will visit two islands of the Uros to appreciate the unique beauty of the place and experience the culture and lifestyle of the locals of millenary origin. Even today they continue with their ancestral traditions, with a large Aymara influence — all linked to the totora reed. The subsistence of the Uros is based on fishing, hunting, and gathering eggs, complementing their economy with the sale of handicrafts. Spend the afternoon at leisure or choose one of the following optional activities.

Overnight in Puno

Optional: Half Day Sillustani Pre-Inca Tombs tour (on SIC basis): USD 30, min 2 pax

Visit the pre-Inca cemetery of the Hatun Colla chiefs in Sillustani, on the shore of Lake Umayo. This is a wonderful trip to see the funerary towers or Chullpas reaching up to six meters in height.

Optional: Half Day Taquile Island tour with lunch (on SIC basis): USD 85, min 1 pax

Get ready to explore Lake Titicaca. Travel to Taquile where a native community of approximately 400 families live with the traditions and high principles of the Incas. Taquile is a very important site on Lake Titicaca which is known for its archeological remains, sacred and ceremonial sites, festive activities, and cherished rituals. Taquile is characterized by its friendly inhabitants, who retain their customs and traditional clothing. They distinguish themselves by their detailed, fine, and colorful textiles with symmetrical decorations and symbols that reflect their way of life and Andean beliefs. A typical lunch will be served during your visit to the island. We will return to the city in the afternoon.

Please note: This tour will continue after visiting the Uros islands and requires booking in advance. Passengers taking this optional tour will visit the Uros separately from the main group (you will depart earlier to have enough time to visit all the islands).

Optional: Evening Sillustani Pre-Inca Tombs on a Private basis: USD 50, min 2 pax
