FAQs

1. When is the best time to visit Cambodia?

Cambodia's high season runs from November to March when the downpours are the least and the sun shines the most. During these months, you can make the most of the beaches and other attractions. Hiking in the jungles would be easy, dipping in the refreshing natural pools would be exciting, and the weather would be by your side. Always ensure you apply a good sunscreen on your face and body, as Cambodia has hot climatic conditions throughout the year.

2. What are the top things to do in Cambodia?

1. Witness the sunrise over Angkor Wat

When you set eyes on this world's largest temple complex, Angkor Wat, at sunrise, you will be blown away. This Mother of all temples is an example of Khmer architectural brilliance and is a sure spot to see one of the most beautiful sunrises of your life. A stunning foundation of spirituality and architecture, this place looks no less than heaven when the sun's first rays shine upon it. Enter via the eastern entrance or back door to avoid crowds. Between the months of March and September, the sun rises exactly over the central tower of the temple. Your visit to Cambodia is incomplete without experiencing this. See the golden hues illuminate the intricate carvings adding seven stars to the grandeur of this magnificent temple.

2. Discover the Beauty of Koh Ker

Undertake off the beaten path to Koh Ker, a lesser-known archaeological site in Cambodia's northeastern region. Explore the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire, characterized by its unique pyramid-shaped temples. Climb to the top of Prasat Thom for panoramic views of the surrounding jungle, and marvel at the intricate carvings and sculptures that depict ancient Khmer mythology. Koh Ker offers a peaceful and less crowded alternative to the temples of Angkor, allowing you to delve deeper into Cambodia's fascinating history.

3. See the Elephant herd at Elephant Valley Project

Be a part of the sustainable and ethical way to see the elephants. Walk along the innocent herd and see them getting the love they deserve. The Elephant Valley project works with mahouts, who look after and train the elephants, to provide a home to their injured and overworked elephants. It is like a small retirement home for elephants, where they are taken care of. Set in the beautiful valley of Mondulkiri, this area prohibits elephant riding. You are allowed to walk around the forest and see them in their natural element. This experience has gained popularity in recent times. So if you want to visit this place, book well in advance.

4. Explore Battambang

For an authentic and different experience, head to Battambang, a spellbinding town known for its old-world charm and artistic heritage. Take a ride on the quirky bamboo train, known as norry in the Khmer language. It is a 10 ft long wooden boat covered with slats of bamboo. It is a unique mode of transportation that allows you to traverse the scenic countryside. Explore the well-preserved colonial architecture, visit traditional Khmer houses, and immerse yourself in the local art scene. Battambang's relaxed atmosphere and friendly locals offer a glimpse into rural Cambodian life.

5. Unwind on Cambodia's Beaches

Cambodia's southern coast boasts pristine beaches and idyllic islands, providing the perfect backdrop for relaxation and rejuvenation. Sihanoukville, known as Kampong Som, is a popular beach destination with white sandy shores and turquoise waters. Indulge in beachside relaxation, soak up the sun, and enjoy water activities such as snorkeling and diving. You can also visit the islands of Koh Rong or Koh Rong Samloem, where you can relax in secluded bays and swim in crystal-clear waters. Koh Rong is Long Beach, stretching up to a distance of 7km. It was also a shooting location for the US television series Survivor.

3. How to reach Cambodia from North America?

The easiest way to reach Cambodia from the US and Canada is via flight. There are flights from Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, and more places in the US, and Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and more areas in Canada to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

4. Is English spoken in the country?

English is widely spoken in the cities. If you travel to villages in the inner corners, there can be instances where people won't understand English. Here, google translate comes to your rescue. If you have a tour guide throughout your trip, there is nothing better than that.

5. Is Cambodia safe for tourists?

Yes, Cambodia is a moderately safe country, but you should always be vigilant of your surroundings as a responsible traveler. There are cases of petty thefts and robberies, so you should always keep your valuables like passports, jewellery, and money locked in a safe at your hotel. Carry small amounts of cash and a photocopy of your documents. Always be aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts. Do not travel alone at night. Always be in a group.

Even before we left we knew we were in good hands! The offline portal contained absolutely everything we needed. At every airport we were met by a friendly local guide. Our tours were as promised. Interacting with the elephants at the rescue sanctuary was a real highlight. Our midnight tuk tuk food tour in Bangkok was absolutely outstanding, an experience of a life time! The food was unbelievably good, although we chose to leave the scorpions and insects for the locals. Visiting the Temples and being blessed by a monk are memories I will cherish. Photos cannot do Ha long bay justice.

Good, fun tour. All the guides and drivers were nice, caring and professional. The tour was always on time each day. Small group. 7 total people. Good value for money paid. I booked my own airfare and met the tour the first day doing the land only option. Not one problem the whole trip. Hotels were nice enough. All were clean and close to the nightlife. I liked the itinerary and felt I saw all the sites I had to see. Also felt I had enough free time to do my own thing. Unsure why I read terrible reviews of this company online. I had a great time and would use them again. Thanks Indus!
