What are the highlights of a Morocco tour?

Guided Tours of Marrakech

One of the most popular trips to Morocco from the USA and Canada, Marrakech is a bustling city with a rich history and culture. From the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square to the beautiful Majorelle Gardens, there is so much to see and do in this vibrant city. The Middle Atlas Mountains, blanketed in snow, provide a picturesque backdrop for Marrakech, one of the imperial cities. Surrounded by green palm trees and dominated by the Koutoubia Mosque, this cityscape is quintessentially Moroccan.

You'll get to view the magnificent monuments that commemorate the splendor of ancient reigns. Take a guided tour of Marrakech Medina with us and experience: The Ibn Youssef School, the Koutoubia Minaret (the mosque of the booksellers), the Saadian Tombs, the ruins of the El Badi Palace, and last but not least, Bahia Palace.

Guided trips with our tour director around Morocco also include the medina, recognized for its vibrant bazaars, and the world-famous Djemma El Fna Square, Ramparts. You may go on a Marrakech full or half-day sightseeing tour to visit Dar Si Said, a Moroccan art museum. Finally, you can participate in several private guided tours of Morocco, to explore the Ramparts encircling the ancient city and the new city of Marrakech with the Menara and Majorelle Gardens and palm-lined streets on horseback.

Camel Ride in the Sahara Desert

Camel treks in the Sahara Desert are one of the most popular tourist activities in Morocco. If you want to experience the true beauty of the desert, then this is the activity for you! A Morocco camel trip is the perfect way to see the sunset and spend a night in luxury in the middle of nowhere. You can trek on the back of a camel for half an hour to get to your hotel, or if you want to continue to the desert camp, you can do that too.

Once you've arrived at your destination, it's time to relax and enjoy the incredible views. You can also go on a starlit camel ride or take a 4x4 tour of the desert dunes. The next morning, you'll wake up early to watch the sunrise before heading back to civilization.

Tour of the Atlas Mountains

If you are an adventurous traveler who loves being outdoors, then exploring the Atlas Mountains with a tour guide is a must. You'll find peace away from the chaos of Marrakech, as well as get to experience the authentic Moroccan landscape. The High Atlas Mountains are perfect for hiking, and you can even go camping overnight under the stars.

Some of the most popular activities in the Atlas Mountains include visiting waterfalls, taking a cable car ride to the top of Mount Toubkal, exploring traditional Berber villages, and visiting the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. You can also go on a day road trip to Ouzoud Falls, which is the tallest waterfall in North Africa.

Essaouira Day Trip from Marrakech

Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a charming coastal town located just a few hours away from Marrakech. The town is known for its beautiful beaches, traditional architecture, and vibrant art scene. You can spend the day relaxing on the beach, exploring the medina, or browsing the local markets.

If you're looking for an adventure, you can go windsurfing or kitesurfing off the coast of Essaouira with some of our tour operators. There are also plenty of opportunities for birdwatching, as the town is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. You can even go on a camel ride along the beach!

Chefchaouen Day Trip from Fez

Chefchaouen is a small town located in the Rif Mountains of Morocco. The town is known for its blue-washed buildings, which give it a unique and picturesque appearance. Chefchaouen is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the quiet mountain air.

You can explore the medina with a local guide, which is full of shops and cafes, or visit one of the town's many mosques. If you're looking for an adventure, you can go hiking in the nearby mountains or swim in the river that runs through the town.

What is the official language of Morroco?

In Morocco, Arabic is the primary language spoken, followed by French. However, you'll find that within the tourism industry, most people speak French, Spanish, or English. While it's not necessary to learn any Moroccan phrases before your trip, a few keywords and questions will go a long way! Here are a few basics to get you started:

Hello – Salaam alaikum (sa-laam a-lay-kum)

No thank you! – La shukran (lah shoo-krahn)

Please/Thank you – Min fadlik (meen fa-dleek)/Shukran jazilan (shoo-krahn ja-zee-lahn)

How much is this? – Kayfa hiya? (kai-fah hee-yah?)

Although you will not have any trouble finding individuals to converse with if you are an English speaker visiting Morocco, it does help if you know a little bit of French too.

How many days do you need in Morocco?

A lot of people wonder how long they should spend in Morocco to see everything. The truth is, you’d need at least a month to explore the country fully! However, we understand that not everyone has that much time to spare. While more time is better to explore Morocco, even a few days will show you enough beauty and enjoyment of the country to make it worth your while. If you are short on time, then we recommend at least nine days in Morocco. This will give you enough time to see the highlights of the country and get a taste of its culture without feeling rushed. By choosing to travel to Morocco, you open yourself up to a world of exploration and adventure. In as little as 9 to 11 days, you can expect to experience some of the following:

Morocco in Nine Days

With nine-day trips to Morocco from the USA and Canada, you may see the imperial city of Marrakesh, as well as Essaouira, Fes - the country's medieval capital, the Sahara Desert, Oualidia, El Jadida, and lovely Casablanca. With this package, you will have a chance to explore the best that Morocco has to offer!

At Indus Travel, we pride ourselves on making your experience as personalized as possible. As such, you can choose to extend your stay in the desert to explore the enchanting sandy vistas en route to Marrakech. Alternatively, you might want to add some hiking in the foothills of the majestic High Atlas Mountains to your itinerary.

Furthermore, you may want to stay in a mountain homestay and learn more about Berber culture. The options are limitless - it all depends on your interests! Our travel experts will be more than happy to help you customize your trip to Morocco to make sure that it is perfect for you. Nine days is a good amount of time to explore Morocco's diverse landscape and culture, and you will come away with many amazing memories!

Morocco in Eleven Days

If you have a little bit more time on your hands, then we recommend our 11-day Morocco tours from Canada and the USA. This trip includes all of the highlights of the nine-day trip, plus a few extra days to explore some off-the-beaten-path destinations. With this package, you'll have the chance to see Fes el-Bali, the world's largest living medieval city, as well as the Koutoubia Tower, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and Dar Si Said Museum. You'll also get to enjoy the traditional Moroccan pottery towns in Erfoud, and take a scenic drive through the Atlas Mountains. This trip is the perfect way to get a well-rounded view of all that Morocco has to offer!

As you can see, there is a lot to see and do in Morocco, no matter how much time you have! Whether you're short on time or want to take your time and explore everything that this amazing country has to offer, we have a great trip for you. Are you planning your first trip to Morocco? What is the currency in Morocco?

The dirham is the currency in Morocco. If you are embarking on Morocco tours from Canada or the US, we recommend exchanging some cash because it's tough to do so outside of the country before you get there. That being said, it is getting easier to use foreign cards in Morocco, with many hotels, restaurants, and shops accepting them. Although, it's always good to have some dirham on hand just in case! The current exchange rate is about 10 dirhams to 0.95 US dollars, and 10 dirhams to 1.24 Canadian dollars.

Keep in mind that you'll get better service if you have small bills to break your dirham down when tipping or making purchases. Many vendors will say they don't have change, so it's best to come prepared!

What is the weather like in Morocco?

Most of Morocco experiences the weather you would expect from a location with four seasons - very hot with little rain in the summer, wetter conditions turning snowy and humid as winter sets in, and milder temperatures during autumn and spring. Although most people anticipate that Morocco is always hot because it is a desert, this isn't generally the case.

The hottest months are July and August, with temperatures between 29°C to 36°C. December through February is when you can expect the heaviest rains and snowfall, so if you're looking to avoid the wet weather, plan your trip for another time of year! Spring and autumn are lovely in Morocco, with mild temperatures and very little rain. It's the perfect time to explore all that the country has to offer without having to worry about extreme weather conditions!

When is the best time to visit Morocco?

The best time for guided tours of Morocco depends on what you want to see and do while you're there. If you're interested in spending time on the beach, then you'll want to come during the summer months. However, if you would prefer to avoid the crowds and enjoy milder weather, then spring or autumn are better for a perfect trip and a wonderful time.

Keep in mind that many festivals and events take place during the winter months, so if you're interested in experiencing Moroccan culture, that may be the best time to visit. Of course, no matter when you come, there is always something to see and you'll have an amazing trip to the West, South, and North Morocco coasts, as well as an overall great tour.

Picturesque Solo Morocco Tour
My wife and I had recently completed our second guided trip with Indus Travels and it was everything that we had expected. Indus Travels provided us with a great tour and adventure on the 11-day "Discovery of Morocco". Our tour guide was a very professional, knowledgeable, passionate and likable individual. The bus driver for our tour was also awesome and provided our small intimate group with much safety and great stops along the way. I would highly recommend taking this guided tour to Morocco with Indus Travels.
