A path of growth, discovery, and meaningful connections
Founded by Praveen & Preeti Syal, Indus began from home with just 3 people in Vancouver, Canada (August 2001), soon growing to 7. It was founded with a vision to deliver immersive, affordable global travel experiences. Initial focus on India as the core destination. The brand was built on founder-led service, strong supplier relationships, and customer trust.

Undertook the first major rebranding to position Indus as a global tour operator. Strengthened brand identity and long-term strategic direction. Added Egypt as the second destination after India, establishing foundations for scalable international growth.
Signature experiences like the Royal India Tour and Maharaja Journeys, along with luxury hotel partnerships such as Oberoi Hotels, established Indus as a trusted name for India-focused travel. An entirely different logo was used.

Indus Travels received the first major award from the India Tourism – Best Tour Operator. It strengthened partnerships with tourism boards and international suppliers. Expanded destination portfolio beyond India into the Middle East & North Africa. By the end of the year, Indus was positioned as an emerging global travel brand.
Indus began working with Chambers of Commerce and Affinity Groups. It developed customized group travel programs for organizations and diversified revenue channels beyond retail leisure travel. The focus was to strengthen corporate and community-based travel offerings.

Latin America was launched as a dedicated sub-brand. Finally, teams started taking shape, creating a dedicated Business Development Manager (BDM) team. Expanded travel agent partnerships across Canada and the U.S., and formalized trade sales strategy to drive scalable growth. All of this led to increased brand visibility within the travel industry network.
Indus Travels significantly expanded its product portfolio and successfully launched comprehensive Europe tour programs, marking a strategic transition from a regional specialist to a multi-continent tour operator while strengthening its competitive position in the global travel market.

A second major brand refresh introduced a digital-first strategy, including a fully transactional online booking website, a dedicated marketing team, and a custom CRM to streamline operations. As the company scaled, opening a second Richmond office and expanding to 40+ professionals, it continued to grow while keeping relationships at the center.
The company opened its first back-office operations center in India, significantly improving global workflow efficiency and enabling 24-hour operational capability. This expansion strengthened supplier coordination and destination management while enhancing overall scalability to support growing international demand.

During COVID-19, the company transitioned to a fully remote global operating model, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery despite industry disruption. This shift created a flexible, location-independent structure while strengthening internal resilience and enhancing digital collaboration systems.
Expanded to 80+ destinations worldwide, launching USA & Canada and Ultra Small Group Tours in 2021, West Africa in 2023, and Central Asia (Uzbekistan & Turkmenistan) in 2024. Strengthened digital direct-to-consumer growth, built a 15+ nationality global team, and by 2026–27 established a truly global footprint.

Recognized as a trusted global tour operator, balancing technology, partnerships, and personalized service at scale, while continuing to focus on innovation, operational excellence, and customer experience — celebrating 25 years of sustainable growth, leadership, and global impact.
From paper files to AI-supported systems, Indus has evolved with the times. Today, the company is fully virtual, with teams working seamlessly across Canada, India, Zimbabwe, Mexico, the Philippines, and more - connected by purpose, not location.

Across the years, Indus has been recognized by tourism boards, airlines, and travel platforms including India Tourism, Singapore Airlines, South African Tourism, Travelzoo, Emirates, Feefo, Malaysia Tourism, and Air Canada’s Circle of Excellence Award (2025).
What began with 3 people is now a 50+ strong, multicultural, multi-department team. Growth in numbers, diversity, and capability, guided by shared values and long-term relationships.
