about this trip
The Oberammergau Passion Play has been performed since 1634 as a tradition by the people of the village of Oberammergau in Germany. The play is a reenactment of the passion of Jesus, covering the short final period of his life from his visit to Jerusalem and ending with his execution by crucifixion. It is performed every 10 years and the year 2020 marks the 42nd production of the world-renowned play. Starting in Munich, spend a full day discovering Bavaria’s capital on your own. You can visit in famous sites such as the Pinacoteca, Odeon square, the National Theatre, Max Joseph Platz, Marienplatz, the City Hall, the Frauenkirche church and the Viktualienmarkt street market. From Munich, take the train to the village of Oberammergau to experience the Passion Play and enjoy a special 3-course dinner. Spend the night in Oberammergau before taking the train back to Munich where the tour ends.
