The Advantages of Traveling in Small Group Tours

When booking a tour, it’s important to think about what size group you’d like to travel with. Though large group tours may be cheaper due to bigger group discounts, traveling in a small group offers many advantages that just can’t be beat.

One of the main advantages of small group travel is that it’s more personal and allows you to connect with others on the tour without feeling like you’re just another face in the crowd. Not only will you have a more personal relationship with your tour guide, who should be able to cater more towards you, you’ll also get to know your travel companions better and hopefully create deeper connections than you would with more people.

By traveling in a small group, you’ll also have access to things that may not be accessible to large groups. For example, you’ll be able to stay in boutique hotels and eat at little local restaurants that simply would not be able to accommodate a large group. This will help you avoid big chains and spend quality time visiting unique locations and gaining a more authentic version of the culture instead.

In addition, you’ll save a great amount of time that would otherwise be spent waiting. In a large group, you’re constantly waiting on people to grab their luggage, get on and off the coach, check into hotels, and queue at rest stops. Fewer travelers in your group means less time waiting around and more time seeing the sights.

For some companies, “small group” could mean 40-50 people. While this may be considered small for them, the real benefits come to groups with less than half that many people. We’ve found that a max of 22 people ensures closer personal relationships while maintaining a great social vibe and access to unique local experiences.
