It housed one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Pharos of Alexandria. Also known as the Lighthouse of Alexandria, it was once considered to be one of the tallest human-made structures for many centuries. Today, most of Alexandria’s ancient glory is either right beneath it or underwater; nevertheless, you will still find remnants of its former glory.
