Phuket

By far the most popular tourist destination in Thailand, the island of Phuket has much to offer. If you have a taste for scenic beaches, yet you like to indulge in high-class accommodation and amenities, this is the place to go. The entire island is pretty much set up for tourists and is full of resorts, shopping malls, nightclubs, golf courses, and museums.

Ko Phangan

Ko Phangan is the number one hotspot for backpackers in Thailand, and arguably South East Asia. This gulf island is most famous for its insane yet iconic full moon parties. Travelers from all over the world come here to lose all sense of time and reality while partying the night away on the beach. In addition to legendary parties, Ko Phangan is also known for its rainforests, spas, and meditation retreats.

Koh Tao

If you enjoy a good thrill and you seek more than just partying, look no further than Koh Tao. This island is known as the capital of scuba diving and is also a popular destination for rock climbing, hiking, snorkeling, and more. When you do want a break from extreme sports there are many tranquil beaches to choose from as well.

Ko Lanta

Ko Lanta is yet another crucial destination for serious divers and snorkeling enthusiasts. Here you can see enchanting coral reefs and even manta rays and whale sharks if you time your vacation right. Even if you fancy staying above water, you will find plenty of relaxing beaches, resorts, and bungalows on this beautiful island.

Ko Samui

As one of the most visited islands of Thailand, Ko Samui offers much more than just beaches and resorts. This island is known for its many festivals including the Ten Stars Samui Art Party, the Buffalo Fighting Festival, and numerous street fairs. For the active and adventurous, Ko Samui also hosts a yearly triathlon as well as a yearly sailing event known as the Samui Regatta.

Ko Phi Phi

Ko Phi Phi is another one of Thailand’s most talked about, as it is voted one of the most beautiful yet accessible islands in the world. Ko Phi Phi is known as a tropical island with great opportunities for bird watching, climbing, and cliff jumping. Water sports such as diving, kayaking, and sailing are also in abundance. Since the tsunami in 2004, the island’s redevelopment has been quick and features many new high-scale resorts.

Ko Tarutao

Ko Tarutao is one of the most ruggedly beautiful islands in Thailand, offering visitors various styles of accommodation from bungalows to campsites. This island is less crowded than some of the others making it a perfect place for a romantic getaway. You will also have a good chance of spotting wildlife like giant sea turtles and more!
