Island Hopping: Another Way to Visit the Galapagos

In the past, cruises were the only way to visit the Galapagos Islands. However, the development of boutique hotels and local infrastructure has made it possible to island hop, which many travelers prefer to cruises!

With island hopping on the Galapagos, you will save a lot of money which would have gone towards an expensive cruise. BUT you can also spend that money on a fun and memorable experience! Use it on an exhilarating  activity such a snorkeling, scuba diving, or sea kayaking. You can even splurge on a nice dinner at a beachside restaurant! There are many alternatives to spending the money if you don’t want to cruise around the Galapagos.

With island hopping, you will also experience greater comfort as you support the local people. Rather than sleeping on a boat rocking back and forth along the sea, you will sleep in comfortable boutique hotels on land. This is a great option for travelers who suffer from seasickness but want to visit the Galapagos. Not only will better quality sleep help you enjoy the many activities of your choice, but sleeping and eating on the islands will also support the local people instead of wealthy cruise ship corporations!

Island hopping also offers a certain of freedom you won’t experience on a cruise. Rather than being dropped off at each island for a few hours before hopping on the ship, you can stay on the island for as long as you want. Whether that’s a few hours, days, or even weeks, the choice is entirely up to you! With more time, you will discover new activities which are not even available on cruises. You might go hiking a volcano rim, complete a scuba diving course, or casually stroll around the beach. By minimizing the time you spend traveling on a boat, you will maximize the time you spend on land. Take the time to enjoy fun activities and immerse yourself in nature which is probably why you wanted to visit the Galapagos in the first place!
