2.  Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

If you think Jordan has caught the eye of filmmakers recently, you are wrong. Over 3 decades ago, George Lucas, an American filmmaker, used the Red Rose City of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as The Temple of the Sun in this movie. The cast and crew traveled to Jordan for a day – yes, it only took one day! – to shoot these scenes that garnered viewers’ attention. Indiana Bedouin was in search of the Holy Grail that took his journey through the Valley of the Moon and the Sun Temple. The film has also won the honorary Oscar award!

3. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

Sam Witwicky, the main protagonist in the movie, is dragged into the Transformers’ war as the Decepticons target him after he has left Autobots behind to lead a normal life. The applauding movie was a sequel to a 2007 science fiction fantasy and was filmed in the ancient city of Petra, and the desert of Wadi Rum, even though the places have been depicted as Egypt in the movie. The Matrix of Leadership is shown to be hidden in the Tomb of the Primes, and during the series of these scenes, the rocky landscapes of Wadi Rum and Petra come into the picture.

4. Rosewater (2014)

A political drama film revolving around the arrest of a Canadian journalist of Iranian origin was shot in Amman, the capital of Jordan. The city is adorned with a mix of ancient and modern architectural styles. The film was mostly shot in Amman and its suburbs, which were represented as Baghdad. This fictional movie tells the story of journalist Maziar Bahari, who was arrested during the 2009 elections while covering them for Newsweek in Iran and served an imprisonment of 118 days.

5. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

An action movie with an element of fantasy, the conclusion of the Skywalker saga, was filmed in the rugged terrains of Wadi Rum. The location was shown as Pasaana, a fictional planet. While Wadi Rum was shown as planet Jeddah in the earlier Star Wars movie Rouge One. This place has been a centerpiece of many movies depicted as several other places on the screen.
