24 Hours in Dubai

Dubai offers so much to see and do that you could not possibly cover it all in 24 hours but you can certainly get an exciting taste!

Let’s dive right in and see what you can do with 24 hours in Dubai!

Morning

Wake up as early as possible to make the most out of your day. You may take a stroll around the old city before the temperature gets too hot. The Bastakia neighborhood is one of the last remaining areas of Old Dubai where you can discover historic buildings designed in the traditional style. There are plenty of lovely cafes and art galleries to explore!

You may also pay a visit to the Jumeirah Mosque, which is a breathtaking example of Isamic architecture and the largest mosque in the city. Take a look at the beautiful Arabic calligraphy within the interior and enjoy a guided tour to develop a deeper understanding of Islam. The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding also hosts tours of the older areas of the city.

Afternoon

Check out the extraordinary views from the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The top floors are offices and private residences, but you can go to the viewing area two thirds of the way and enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Arabian Gulf and desert. You can see so far into the desert you will be able to peer into the horizon and see the curve of the Earth.

Save money at the viewing platform by booking tickets in advance rather than buying them at the door. If you would rather enjoy the view with a cocktail in hand, head to Atmosphere, which is the bar two floors below.

This afternoon will also be a great time to enjoy world-class shopping in Dubai. The huge amounts of cargo that pass through this port and the low tariffs mean you can find a dazzling collection of goods for a very low price. Check out the Dubai Mall, which is the largest mall in the world, home to an indoor aquarium and ice rink. It is right next door to the Burj Khalifa.

Evening

In the evening, make sure you pay a visit to the Dubai Fountain. This iconic attraction boasts a jet of water that shoots up to 150 meters, with water dancing to light and classical Arabic music. It is the largest dancing fountain in the world with a show that takes place every 30 minutes from 6PM to 10PM.

Prepare for an incredible experience in Dubai with an evening desert dune tour. You will be taken in a 4×4 to the beautiful, surreal, and remote desert dunes outside the city where you can enjoy a traditional Arabian barbeque under the stars. Seeing the desert in the evening and watching the sunset and twinkling stars is so much more pleasant than doing so in the baking heat of the day!

Dubai is a popular stopover hub in the United Arab Emirates where many flights travel through. You might find yourself with a 24 hour layover in this exhilarating city. Make the most of it and enjoy everything the exciting and beautiful Dubai has to offer.
