Azi Shahidi
I began my career in Cultural Tourism as a lecturer for European educational groups in the Middle East. I studied architecture and graphic design but found in tourism the ideal field to fulfill my love of history, art and people. I have lived on 3 different continents and traveled extensively in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas! I can speak English, French and Farsi fluently and can get by in German, Spanish and Arabic. I am very passionate about the cultural diversities one finds while traveling and my greatest ambition is to keep on traveling. I want to see the great architecture, the flora and fauna, taste the good food, drink the exotic wines, dance to different beats and enjoy the exciting nightlife that our world has to offer. That’s why my favorite destination is South America, it encompasses all of that and more!

Classic Kenya Safari Ex Usa 08 Days

DAY
1
USA (DEPARTURE) - NAIROBI
Board your trans-Atlantic flight. Dinner and overnight onboard flight.

DAY
2
NAIROBI (ARRIVAL)
Welcome to Kenya! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure or, in case of an early morning arrival, you can join one of the optional tours.
Overnight in Nairobi

Optional: Daphne Sheldricks Elephant Orphanage Excursion USD 75/ CAD 100 per person
Clients will be transferred to Eka Hotel on arrival for breakfast on own arrangements and then continue with the excursion. Depart to Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage situated on the outskirts of Nairobi (approximately 45 minutes’ drive). The Sanctuary is run by Daphne Sheldrick and is set in the grounds of her house. Here, you will see the orphaned animals and meet the people who handle and care for these animals. It’s an interesting excursion and the team who run the orphanage are always willing to spend time answering any questions guests have to ask. Upon completion, return to hotel or city centre by approx. 12.45 hrs (lunch is not included). It is suggested that due to demand, visits should be pre-booked and at times there may not be any animals in care. Visiting times are limited to approximately one hour and are between 11:00hrs and 12:00 hrs daily.

Optional: Half day out of Africa Excursion USD 90/ CAD 120 per person
Clients will be transferred to Eka Hotel on arrival for breakfast on own arrangements and then continue with the excursion. Follow in the footsteps of Karen Blixen as you travel towards the Ngong Hills, you feel swept immediately onto the film set of Out of Africa the moment you arrive. The old colonial farmhouse is simple, housing a few items that Karen Blixen chose and once enjoyed herself. There are also the colorful gardens to explore, where several old coffee machines have laid untouched for decades. From here visit the Giraffe Centre, where the highly-endangered Rothschild giraffe lives in peace. With an elevated viewing-cum-feeding platform, this tour is wonderful for children.

DAY
3
NAIROBI - MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE (B/L/D)
Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you travel towards Kenya's fertile highlands and head down the rift escarpment on the road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. On the way spot the charming chapel built at the foot of the escarpment. Pass the impressive Longonot earth satellite station as you head across the valley to Narok; continue your travels across acres of wheat and barley, before reaching the Masai Mara in time for lunch. Following lunch set off on your first game drive, returning to the lodge as the sun sets.

DAY
4
MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE (B/L/D)
Following an early breakfast, depart on a morning game drive, returning to the camp mid morning. Crown your game viewing experience in the Mara with a “Bush Breakfast” by the Mara River Hippo Pools. One cannot resist the charming “Jambo” from the chefs and Masai warriors as they welcome you to our wonderfully set breakfast buffet of cold cuts, fruits, cereals and hot dishes with eggs made to your specifications as you wait. The hippos keep you company and only say “Kwaheri” (good bye) after you have had enough. After lunch, and perhaps a siesta, set off on another game drive and visit to the Masai Village, returning to the lodge as the sun sets.
Overnight in Masai Mara National Reserve area

Optional: Early morning Masai Mara Hot Air Balloon Safari USD 475/ CAD 640 per person
This is the ultimate way to view wildlife in Africa. You will be woken before dawn (between 04:30 and 05:30 am) and then driven to a remote location. Taking off as the sun rises, you will drift quietly above plains, rivers and forests while gazing at spectacular scenery and with luck, take some incredible photographs. The flight is approximately one hour and gives a ‘birds-eye’ experience to game-watching which many find to be the climax of their safari. On landing in the middle of nowhere there will be a full bush-style breakfast set up served with Champagne, with a table decked in silver cutlery, fresh Kenyan coffee, tea and fruits. It is a truly magical experience.
Recommendations: Flat comfortable shoes should be worn. A jacket, sweater or fleece which can be easily removed during the flight as the sun warms up the air is ideal. Sun hats & sun glasses are also recommended.

Once in the park, view game en route to the lodge. Following lunch, depart for a gamedrive, returning to your lodge as the sun sets.
