Azi Shahidi
I began my career in Cultural Tourism as a lecturer for European educational groups in the Middle East. I studied architecture and graphic design but found in tourism the ideal field to fulfill my love of history, art and people. I have lived on 3 different continents and traveled extensively in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas! I can speak English, French and Farsi fluently and can get by in German, Spanish and Arabic. I am very passionate about the cultural diversities one finds while traveling and my greatest ambition is to keep on traveling. I want to see the great architecture, the flora and fauna, taste the good food, drink the exotic wines, dance to different beats and enjoy the exciting nightlife that our world has to offer. That’s why my favorite destination is South America, it encompasses all of that and more!

DAY

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve
Leaving Nairobi after breakfast, you'll travel towards Kenya's fertile highlands and head down the Rift Escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. Look for the charming chapel they built at the foot of the escarpment. You'll pass the impressive Longonot earth satellite station as you head across the Valley to Narok, and then travel across acres of wheat and barley, before you reach the Masai Mara in time for lunch. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight at the Masai Mara

DAY
4
Masai Mara National Reserve
Optional: balloon safari with a champagne-style breakfast. Probably the most famous of the reserves, the Masai Mara, in Kenya's southwestern corner boasts an astonishing amount of game. Unfenced, the Mara is bound in the east by the Ngama Hills and in the west by the Oloololo or Siria Escarpment. Gazelle, wildebeest and zebra graze in large numbers and where prey is found so are predators. Not only is this a great place in which to find game, but also the wide green-gold savannahs spotted with thorn trees make it ideal for photography. The Mara, as it is known in Kenya, is ravishingly beautiful and also offers long, undisturbed views and utterly dramatic panoramas. The weather really means something here. The sun may beat down unforgivingly, huge clouds in fabulous shapes may sweep across the widest of skies, and the wind ripples the grasses as though they are stroked by a giant hand. The landscape is stunning. The famously black-maned Mara lions are possibly the stars of the Mara show, but cheetah, elephant, kongoni, topi, Thompson's gazelle, waterbuck, hyena, and primates are all here too. As with the rest of Kenya, the birding is good. There is no settlement within the reserve however; the Mara is in theory owned by the Maasai, pastoralists and, in earlier times, renowned lion-killers. It is said that if lions scent approaching Maasai on the breeze they move swiftly in the opposite direction. After an early breakfast, depart on a morning game drive, returning to the lodge mid morning. After lunch and perhaps a siesta, set off for an afternoon game drive along with a visit to a Masai Village, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight at the Masai Mara

DAY
5
Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru
Leaving the Masai Mara after breakfast, travel across the ‘breadbasket’ of Kenya, where acres of wheat and barley litter the landscape as you head north to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasai land. Now travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle as you head up the Mau Escarpment, before arriving at the Lodge around mid-day. Once in the park, view game en route to the lodge. Following lunch and a siesta, there is an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge as the sun sets. This is truly a remarkable national park which has achieved international fame. Both black and white rhino are being given a new lease of life in this 188 sq km, fully-fenced park - and they are carefully protected. The present rhino population is over 50 and continuing to multiply. The Rothschilds giraffe is another rarity and the park has its fair share of buffalo, leopard, zebra, eland, waterbuck and lion. Overnight at Lake Nakuru

DAY
6
Lake Nakuru - Amboseli National Park
After an early breakfast continue on to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride. Afterwards leave the Rift Valley behind and continue on to Nairobi for an early lunch or a picnic lunch en-route depending on road conditions. Then head south to Amboseli arriving at your lodge by late afternoon. Arid looking as Amboseli is, it has historically supported both game and the Maasai that kept their herds of cattle here. It is thanks to the waters that run off Africa's greatest mountain that the apparently dry Amboseli, Kenya's first game sanctuary is able to support its wildlife. Mount Kilimanjaro broods high over Amboseli, generally cloaked by clouds but appearing in all its snow-shrouded magnificence from time to time. Kilimanjaro was once part of Kenya, but on the marriage of Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany Queen Victoria gifted it to her beloved grandson, whose colony Tanzania then was, as the perfect wedding present. Overnight at Amboseli

DAY
7
Amboseli National Park
Depart the lodge after a sumptuous breakfast for a full day game drive, enjoy a picnic lunch returning to the lodge in the afternoon. Overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge on a full board basis

DAY
8
Amboseli – Nairobi - USA
Following an early breakfast this morning, catch your last views of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as you depart Amboseli. From here we head north across the beautiful and seemingly never ending Athi Plains, arriving in Kenya's bustling capital city of Nairobi by mid-day. Once in the city, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
